MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. – A statewide search is underway for a car that could be carrying the body of a deceased child.

Officials with the Millersville Police Department said an officer pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 65 South around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday because it had a temporary tag that was difficult to read.

Three men were inside the vehicle. A man claiming to be from Saudi Arabia told the officer they were traveling from Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Franklin, Tennessee, to bury a child in accordance with their Islamic faith.

So much for police officers taking control.. What an embarrassment. Why do I think this was a female cop that stopped this car? The term “the officer” instead of “he” might be a clue.

Nothing illegal about this as long as they have a death certificate. A hundred years ago....you’d have some relative die while visiting relatives and someone would have to accompany the casket back via the train to the home town of the guy. I don’t see a big deal unless there’s no death certificate.

In this Age of Obama, it could have been a transgendered cop which may have totally befuddled the writer and editor as they struggled with the language to be used in their story.

I can go from north Mississippi to east Kentucky on the Interstate and the only place I find local police outside of major cities is the Millerville, Tn. area and I doubt the area they patrol is all contained by their “city”. They seem to always have someone pulled over.

Yes, North and East should have been capitalized.

About 20 years ago, one my father’s former bosses died, and his daughter had to drive the casket with her father’s remains from south Texas to east Texas so he could be buried in a family plot within 24 hours of death. Under Texas law, a body would have to be embalmed if it will take more than 24 hours to be buried.

I wonder if instead of carrying a dead child, it is carting terrorism supplies?

“bury a child in accordance with their Islamic faith.”

I think that entails a shallow unmarked grave in the woods.

Isn’t it too late to be looking for the car - with child?
I think the child is buried by now.

Chief Hindman said the driver tried to show the officer the death certificate, but a language barried (sic) confused him.<<<<<<<<<<<<

I don’t know if this “him” referred to the officer or the driver.

“The officer” is used throughout the article. This trick is sometimes used to cover for an inept female.
