Yep.
Which is what happened in Augustine’s day also. When Carthage was dealt with, the Romans started living lavishly with all their wealth and free time, indulging in entertainment, the entertainment got increasingly immoral, they started killing each other. I’m not a positivist or even a post-positivist. I believe most of what passes as science is socially constructed and politically motivated. But God’s laws are the way things are. The laws of human nature, so long as they fit scripture, are immutable.
