“What am I missing here?”
Not enough info to answer the question, but here’s a guess:
If you made that much would you choose to live in a trailer, or would you perhaps live in an area the fit your income? I think most fit their income. This would include cars and other personal property as well as kids, etc.. I don’t know if their kids are in college (or even if they have any) but that’s not an expense to ignore.
So your living your life to the tune of your expenses and along comes commie-care. Previously, let’s say your insurance is 1000 a month and $300 dollar deductible, for you, your wife, and two kids.
Now, your premium is 3000 a month and the deductible is 5000. If your income doesn’t match that increase, which is effectively like purchasing 4 cars, you might be a bit hesitant to shell out a grand for a barrage of cardiac tests.
I watched Bill O’Reilly last night and he did a segment on OCare where he stated that deductibles were going up 312% on average. That makes OCare 100% unusable.
You’re being generous to the Congresswoman, and that’s laudable. I understand your points, as my youngest son will be a senior in HS when I turn 65.
and the $5000 deductible is PER YEAR
so you spend $12000 per year for insurance and it does not cover anything until you reach $5K
This is catastrophic insurance only, in effect, while the freeloaders get every visit free
You might as well put the $12K per year (or $17K) in the bank in case of emergency and hope for the best- in effect self-insure
