Yes it would. But even using a handgun and shooting one’s self in the head isn’t always a fool proof method of suicide. The death rate by suicide by self inflicted gunshot is at 90%. Good aim and a basic understanding of human anatomy and the choice of ballistics and a commitment to purpose is everything. : (

In approximately 10% of suicide attempts by self inflicted gunshots, they don’t succeed in killing themselves, but then they often end up with serious injuries that sometimes result in a lifelong disability. But they and their families still have to live with the consequences. As if successful suicides are not destructive enough to the family and friends left behind, dealing with a failed attempt that leaves the person alive but incapacitated for life and dependent on their care for the rest of their lives must be in some ways just as bad. So sad.
