This death may be another in the series of banker suicides. An unusual number are cases of plunging from heights - this is not a common way for privileged men to kill themselves.

...this is not a common way for privileged men to kill themselves. Do you have any data on how privileged men kill themselves?

Surviving relatives include his nephew, the only other family member at home at the time.

All those rich stockbrokers who jumped out of their Wall Street high rise offices on Black Tuesday 1929 were, privileged up until that day.
And for those who referenced the OMEN? Balderdash!!

I had to check the date on this article, because a similar incident occurred in London about a month or so ago; someone falling from an apartment building window and getting impaled on the railings below. I’m not sure whether it was a banker or not.

Not just falling - gunshots, drownings, stabbing themselves without a sharp object, hanging themselves without a rope or other object.

While it is unlikely that there is a common thread, it would make an interesting novel. Something like an illegal drug, maybe, favored by wealthy banker types. Heavy on the Schadenfreude.
It could even be a Monty Python style black comedy. What would the social impact be if the high stress banker and financial types around the world decided to all commit suicide?
Something like the 2002 Japanese cult movie Suicide Club.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_Club_%28film%29
In that movie, teenage Japanese girls start committing suicide, sometimes in large groups, though there is no clear link as to why. And while people naturally want to protect teenage girls, they definitely don’t have the same feelings about bankers.

.Metropolitan Police said the man's death was not being treated as suspicious but confirmed enquiries were being carried out into the circumstances surrounding his death Sure.
Almost everyone I know dies that way. Nothing to see here.

Does the headline imply that had the banker not been “impaled on railings” he would have survived the 60-foot fall?
