Berkeley - makes employers notice that these graduates are not the ones to hire....if they think this crap is important over taking finals....then what other nonsense will determine if they show up to work or not...

Berkeley - makes employers notice that these graduates are not the ones to hire...
*********************
Good posting. I was a Mgr. for a large company and I agree that the reputation of an applicant’s college/univ. (what’s the difference in those two nouns?) DID influence my decision on hiring or not hiring.

Some schools were renowned as party schools and had lousy grads. Others (like the Ivies and Stanford) put out grads that expected entry level jobs to pay as much as a Manager, because that was the BS the schools fed them to extract those exhorbitant tuitions.

A school’s reputation should be considered by parents and students, before shelling out the big bucks. Just because Harvard, Yale, etc., were once elite does NOT mean they still are desireable. They have been taken over by liberals who are more into “social justice” than practical education that would lead to a career. (Ref. MIT Prof Gruber)

While there may be a few students joining the protests, people who live there say that most if not all of the protestors were shipped in. They also said that they were not local residents nor students. The timing is wrong for Berkeley students, despite the proximity to Christmas.

It's Mid-Terms time and UC Berkeley is known as a difficult school to be admitted to and once admitted, the competition between students becomes that much more intense. A student must maintain a high grade point average in hopes of later admittance to Grad School or Law School or Med School.

Berkeley is matriculated with more than 25.000 students and these are a few hundred protesters most of whom are not students or not full time students.

Berkeley does have its weird elements and arguably more so than many other major universities. That said it should be agreed that the majority of its faculty is excellent and is assured to provide one of the best educations and networks in the world today especially for the sciences.

The town council of Berkeley is another matter though.
