PS. We have a school in our area with a program teaching common core via the computer. The kids look at it all day (who knows what they are learning) and have to communicate with the teacher via the computer. They are turning into a bunch of zombies. They can’t write, spell or do basic math facts. . . .and lets not go to the version of American history they may be introduced to.
One thing I’ve noticed in the past couple of years (and I believe it preceded Common Core) was the amount of assignments my children have for homework on the computer. Besides not liking the idea that it is assumed all kids have access to PCs with internet connections, many times they tell me they haven’t covered the material in class yet. The kicker is that they can’t advance through the lesson without answering questions correctly, so it basically forces the parents to either do the homework for them or teach it themselves (we do the latter). When so many teachers are raking in high five-figure/low six-figure “salaries”, you realize that many don’t know the subject matter themselves. Having the kids get “extra help” after school does little if the teacher is stupid; at that point it is just padding their salaries...
