"Voters are stupid" economist Jonathan Gruber and Marilyn Tavenner face Issa and the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee today on C-SPAN 3.
FOX News reports that Tavenner has asked that she be seated anywhere but next to Gruber. Apparently, Gruber is radioactive. Time will tell whether this affliction is covered under Obamacare.
Mr. Gruber is very smart, except for today. Today he’s being stupid. Funny how that happens.
Gruber is sticking to his glib script, though it is reducing him to the lying, political, arrogant, scam artist he is.
Issa missed a great opportunity:
“Cost fell in my model”
Issa: “But not in reality”
Gruber: fill in the blank
Issa: “So, you built the model to sell the scheme, not to actually predict the outcome of the scheme, correct? I ask this Mr. Gruber, because I don’t think there’s a person in America that thinks you are stupid. You helped sell this toxic waste dump to the United States of America. Before you answer my question, consider that if you answer “I built it to sell the model”, then you are still a genius. If you answer, “I built it to model the outcome,” then you will be publicly verifying that you are either LYING or INCOMPETENT, and possibly both depending on the handwaving you did in the code to arrive at such a blatantly incorrect forecast.
So, Mr. Gruber, which is it: Did you build the model to sell Obamacare, or did you build it to predict the economic outcome of it?”
That’s what happens when power is more important than truth. We become animals.

Gruber won’t admit he lied. He “conjectured.” (repeatedly saying this)

But what was on the videos according to Gruber in earlier testimony was the truth.
Gruber won’t say he was on the panel.
“Not very detail oriented for someone who is detail oriented.”

Kagan explicitly states, in another opinion, that it’s not the Judiciaries job to second guess Congresses wording. If she votes to uphold the Federal Exchange subsidies, shell be completely discredited and exposedfor the feckless hypocrite we think she is.
Not that it matters with a lifetime employment.
And I thought Gruber was supposed to be so smart.
It’s peeling an onion. They’re putting Gruber in a box. His only defense so far has been that he was just a numbers cruncher, he had nothing to do with the writing the bill or the politics in selling it-i.e. he was/is not a political adviser, his arrogant comments were his speaking as a private citizen who basically was conjecturing as he had not real knowledge of the political machinations of the Obamacare debate and passage.
Subsequent steps - establish how much he was paid for his work. In detail, what did he do to earn the money? Ask him to provide the methodology in his reports and also those reports.
How many times was he at the WH? Who did he meet with and what was discussed while he was at the WH?
Read the parts of the bill that he made the glib comments about (Cadillac tax, exchange subsidies) and ask him to reconcile what the bill says and his comments.
