In a heated exchange, PBS host Tavis Smiley told Sean Hannity that“racism is still the most intractable issue in this country, it's a part of everything we do still.” He made this claim while discussing the incidents surrounding the police handling of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Mr. Smiley also stated, in refuting President Obama’s remarks on BET that we cannot compare what is happening now with what happened fifty years ago, “It is open season on black men, and it is in many ways as bad as it was fifty years ago.”
The meme that Mr. Smiley and other prominent black Americans keep repeating is that police officers have such a negative view of black males (which Smiley and others attribute to racism) that they place less value on their (black males’) lives. That in turn causes the police officers to set out from the get-go to shoot to kill.
Now, there is no evidence that supports that claim. However if that is the case, how did the police officers come to view black males so negatively in the first place?
My parents always taught me that people would view me in the way that I presented myself. In other words, if I do not respect myself in the way that I dress, speak, or act, people will not show me any respect. I have never once been taught that the way I am viewed is the fault of others.

I was raised by a man who broke the color barrier anyway he could in the 40s and 50s. He was white. So I assumed that I had no prejudice. And then someone I love was severely beaten by a black man and his girlfriend. Now I don’t think it’s prejudice. It’s street smarts.
The whole US LEgal System is racis'.
It is based on mostly logical, objective rational thinking rather than the emotional thinking of most 'rats.
The 'rat proletariat want a different system compatible with their "thinking".
Uh, bms? I know that is a generalization but the youngsters that try to achieve something and succeed are vilified by their, well I can’t say peers, but are accused of selling out or trying to be white or something. The thug mentality and rapper persona a lot of (not just black males) try to take on surely doesn’t serve them well in the long run. “Hands down. Pants up!” If they knew what the saggy pants look meant, maybe they’d pull ‘em up. Or not.

Liberal policies have ensured that black boys grow up without fathers and become criminals.
Peoples’ perceptions are what they see and hear. Take a white guy and have his car break down in an all-black neighborhood and have a black guy break down in an all-white neighborhood and see which one gets a tow truck and which one gets an ambulance. More importantly, ask who’s racist based on the outcome of the experiment.
I got sucker punched by a black “teen” in a movie theater in downtown Ithaca, NY in 1964 when I was a tender 13. It’s a life lesson I haven’t forgotten once in the ensuing 50 years.

When I was in school I was driving downtown where I worked one day, a young adult long blond hair. Poof, car breaks down in an all black neighborhood. I asked a number of people to call me a tow truck. No one would do it, people swarming around. One guy said I could come to his house and call one myself. I was not that gullible. This was the days before cell phones. I went to the glassed in lobby of an apartment building and stood there a minute. Lo and behold, Divine Providence! The elevator opened and another law student walked out. He was horrified that I was there, I did go with him up to his place, he called me a tow truck and stayed with me until it arrived. But yeah, no one was going to help me and I was definitely in danger.
A provably false statement if you actually look at the numbers. More whites get killed by blacks than the other way around. Also, most (over 90% IIRC) of blacks killed are killed by other blacks.
But hey, what's a lie if it supports the liberal agenda and narrative, right? We've been told that by libs too: truth/lies don't matter, only the message.
White folks are confused as to how their racism plays any part in the massive amounts of black on black crime.
Burning and looting their own businesses in honor of Mike Brown’s death is a little confusing also.
Put it this way..I saw a black man, as tall and big as I am. He wore really dark blue trousers with the seams on the side, rolled IN. He wore a dark blue jumper with white stripes on a large rear collar and white stripes on each cuff.
On his arm he wore a depiction of a CROW and 3 red stripes bent in a downward “V”. His funny white hat, just like the one I once wore, ID’d that black man as a Petty Officer 1st class. I, knew at once that he was a Sailor of the United States Navy.
Half hour later I saw another black young man. Sagging dirty trousers, costly sneakers, raggedy T-shirt with an obscenity sewn on, hair longer than my daughter, and a stream of filth aimed at his girl friend. HIS “uniform” ID’d this young man as a THUG.
Like it or not, people are normally exactly how they present themselves to the world.
