A 22 year old Israeli Jewish man was stabbed Tuesday morning (roughly 2:00 am EST) in Crown Heights, outside the Chabad-Lubavitch building at 770 Eastern Parkway in New York City.
The man’s condition is defined as stable, but serious; he was reportedly stabbed in the neck. The public has been asked to pray for him; his Hebrew name is Levy Yitzhak ben Raizel.
Police arrived at the scene and apprehended the perpetrator, now revealed to have been a 40-year old African American man. He may have also been Muslim, but this has yet to be confirmed. The attacker died after being shot by police as he was being treated for his injuries at Kings County Hospital.
One witness told the New York Daily News that (he) was muttering, “I will kill the Jew, I want to kill the Jew.” …

Yup...almost sounds like the impression they want to create.
When I worked at Kings County, the security guys were pretty tough, but they never SHOT a patient.

The guy actually entered the building and stabbed a student in the head. When the police came, they ordered him to put down the knife and one of the synagogue officials tried to calm him and pursuade him to put it down. He did so briefly, but wouldn’t move away from it, and then suddenly picked it up again and pointed it in front of him and tried to walk out, and then spun around towards the police, at which point they shot him. He lived long enough for them to get him to the hospital.
The student is is in critical condition.

Last report noted that de Blasio got 51 percent of the overall Jewish vote, BTW. Only 10 percent of Jews in NYC are orthodox of any kind; the majority are “Conservative” (liberal) and “Reform” (more liberal).
