Road Trip: Fort Huachuca, Arizona

Fort Huachuca is a United States Army installation under the command of the United States Army Installation Management Command. It is located in Sierra Vista in Cochise County, in southeast Arizona, about 15 miles north of the border with Mexico.

Fort Huachuca is the home of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM)/9th Army Signal Command. Fort Huachuca is also the headquarters of Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) and the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG).

Fort Huachuca has a rich tradition in Army Signal and is currently home to the Network Enterprise Technology Command whose mission is to plan, engineer, install, integrate, protect, defend and operate Army Cyberspace, enabling Mission Command through all phases of Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental and Multinational operations.

It is also home to the 11th Signal Brigade. The 11th Signal Brigade has the mission of rapidly deploying worldwide to provide and protect Command, Control, Communications, and Computer support for Army Service Component Commanders and Combatant Commanders as well as, Joint Task Force and Coalition Headquarters across the full range of military operations.

So, which pic is for Ft. Wah-Chew-Kah? The cowboy boots are almost a must around here, but the old two-story home in the next picture down is the spittin' image of the homes on Colonel's Row. Let me see if I can find a picture of that area for comparison...

Ah, yes, here we go!

We're looking across Brown Parade Field on Old Post at Colonel's Row; Sandy and I have marched in many end-of-month ceremonies here!

My quarters on post were on Burt Rd in the Bonnie Blink housing area. At the end of Burt you find the Ft. Huachuca Cemetery, containing graves from every conflict since the Indian Wars of the 1880s.

The Post Cemetery is now closed to new interments; and we have opened the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. 145 acres of Post property were ceded to the Veteran's Administration near the intersection of Buffalo Soldier Trail and Golf Links Dr.

When you Ladies go to the stylist to have your toe nails done you call it a pedicure does that make getting your dog’s nails done at the Pet Stylist’s is called a PETICURE?
