Stopping someone over something as inconsequential as a cigarette tax is stupid enough to begin with. Using such force over it is absurd.
Fact is many cops get real angry when you do not obey them. Garner was killed for ‘contempt of cop’.
Sorry, but you seem to be ignorant of the facts. Police were CALLED by a business owner to enforce a law, good or bad, that was hurting the business owner. If you sold smartphones and tablets, but a guy sets up business on the sidewalk in front of your store, selling stollen electronics at a deep discount to your prospective customers against the law, you’d be stupid not to call the police too.
The police had a right to be there to confront Garner, who had an extensive arrest record and was breaking a more serious law, resisting arrest.
The owner of the store called the police because the perp (Garner) was harassing the customers and employees of the establishment.
Four police officers were dispatched to the scene because they knew there was going to be trouble with this guy. He had more than 30 prior arrests and was out on bail from his last arrest when this incident occurred.
Eric Garner may be a martyr to someone's cause, but he was a troublemaker and a useless oaf. He was destined to face a demise like this, sooner or later.
“Stopping someone over something as inconsequential as a cigarette tax is stupid enough to begin with. Using such force over it is absurd.”
Every law passed can ONLY be enforce via such force. There is no other recourse left to the government to address any individual that refuses to obey ANY law.
Keep that in mind as we draw nearer and nearer to full implementation of Obamacare. They MUST be willing to kill any individual not willing to participate in their mandated market....like me.
