I think this would be great and hope you have actually predicted the future. This one event would likely start a firestorm on both sides, conservative and liberal. If Cruz thinks he's been a lightning rod before, this circumstance will really open his eyes. From observing Cruz, I bet he would turn the lightning back around on the RINOs. Bottom line, great political theater with the hope it would energize the base to bring real competitiveness to the general election we last saw in 2008 with Palin on the stump.
