I'd love a small work truck with an 7 foot bed. Something like this would do me fine, preferably with rubber floor mats and vinyl seats for the dog, muddy boots or spilled coffee:

However, no one makes them any more. Too many fat Americans won't fit in them, and trucks are now marketed to city people making lifestyle choices, who own little dogs, stop at Starbucks and who wouldn't recognize a sheet of plywood or a bale of hay if one bit them on their oversized butts.

The Ford engineers designed the width inside the wheelwells of my Expedition to JUST fit 4 ft wide sheet goods. A 4x8 panel will stick out a couple feet in the rear, but that’s fine for weekend warrior home repair and improvement. It is a great vehicle — everything is enclosed and secure, quiet, reliable, LOTS of power with the big V8. Super reliability at 10 years old and 160k on the clock. Only downside is the 13 mpg around town — and that is with an EXTREMELY light foot on the go pedal (takes me 30 - 40 seconds to reach 60 mph when the ramp and freeway are clear).
