Even though moderate Republican candidates lose presidential elections without the conservative base (see: George H.W. Bush '92, Bob Dole '96, John McCain '08, Mitt Romney '12), former Florida Governor and potential presidential candidate Jeb Bush thinks conservatives are not needed to win the White House.
Bush believes that a presidential candidate who is "willing to lose the primary to win the general" has the best shot at the White House.

Yeah, it seems pretty inevitable.
The last couple of presidential primaries were rigged, but after the last convention in Tampa, and the new rules they put in place, and the resources they put into crushing opposition in terms of control of the state parties, the rigged game that is in place for 2016 is shaping up to be infinitely worse than ever.
Well, it always comes down to that, doesn’t it.
Because Cruz, Lee and Paul are in Congress, it would take somebody like Sarah Palin, who has nothing to lose, to start the movement.
I have some fundamental problems with all of the candidates mentioned.
But I know the ballot access process very well. Probably better than most people in the country.
By the way, I’m highly skeptical that any of those “names” will ever leave the GOP, at least as a leader of such a drastic move.

Jenna Bush really annoys me for some reason. I’m sick of the Bushes.
Jeb is trying to make a logical argument for his candidacy, but doesn’t seem to realize that there is no argument to be had as the vast majority of people have an almost unanimous instinct that we don’t want anymore Bushes. Maybe P. Bush could take a crack at it in twenty years if he shapes up to have a good character.

but wait, there are Freepers who say Conservatives not voting for McCain/Romney are to blame for Obama winning while Bush says a Republican presidential candidate doesn’t need Conservative voters to win. This is confusing.
Jeb is targeting his campaign toward Open Primary Democrats.
No ballot in the country contains a line for who you want to vote against. Only who you can vote FOR.
And the only wasted vote is for someone who doesn’t represent you.
At least if you actually care about restoring representative self-government.

How do we get rid of open primaries? I don’t understand how those monstrosities got implemented. Is it a state law? An RNC policy? The only reason McCain and Romney got the nominations is that Democrats must have flooded the Republican primary votes. Why are Democrats allowed to pick the Republican candidate?
