Sounds like she wanted to trap him by telling him she was pregnant. The mind of a 14 year old girl is too simple. So sorry to read it backfired on her. And NO, I am not blaming her for what he did. Why ever would she tell him she was pregnant when she wasn’t? To many young girls, having a baby ‘guarantees’ you will have someone who loves you. She was seriously misinformed about the complexities of relationships and life. And NO, her parent (s) shouldn’t have let her ‘date’ a 22 year old. I once had a discussion with a friend about the NYC school system offering young girls abortion assistance, without parental consent. My friend basically told me I didn’t understand the Black community. She said ‘do you want her to have the baby???’ I said ‘no, I don’t want her to be pregnant to begin with’. Heartbreaking lack of parenting.
Maybe her period was late, and she thought she was pregnant.
I suspect she'd know that would not be a good way to develop stronger bonds with her boyfriend. A good look around the neighborhood would probably have shown that's a good way to make him want to vamoose out of your life forever.
