This happened with the Clarence Thomas hearings as well. Remember? Right after the hearings, more people believed Clarence Thomas’ side. But after a year of whining from the press and issues of harassment, more people believed Anita Hill.
Yes, this is what they have been teaching for a long time now. Its similar to “history is written by the winners”. Its not entirely a leftist philosophy it is also Deconstructionism - the theory that all meaning is imparted by the viewer, which itself is a construct of all the viewers inputs, social mores, religion etc. Somewhat obvious but taken to another level, if there is no truth and no meaning beyond what the viewer imparts, then those who have the ability to convey messages may try to imbue those messages with symbols and inferences that trigger a certain impulse.
If you don’t believe there is such a thing as truth, then you don’t care to even try to find it.
This is a major difference between left and right that is seldom discussed. If you don’t believe in truth that what do you have but a Machiavellian approach to politics, to news and to other content?
