They are risking a LOT to come forward and accuse the buzzard.

They're heroes today. At the very least they'll all be able to write a book and appear weekly on "Oprah" and "Ellen".They've risked *nothing*!

I know he settled, but I don’t know WHY he settled.
Were the allegations true or did he want to protect his image?

We know the DA did not press charges because he did not think he could win the case. Did he look for more victims? If an attorney could find 14 women to come forward in a civil case, why could the DA find any women to come forward in a criminal case?

I am not defending Cosby, only my conscience. I need more information before deciding someone was a serial rapist.

They could have done that when they came out 20 years ago (a lot of these women were involved in the lawsuit). They didn’t and the few who did give interviews didn’t take money.

These are grandmothers in a few cases. They have risked a lot. Attitudes like yours are why women don’t come forward when raped.

I believe both. He had 14 women, he had been making deals to keep it out of the public eye (protect his image) even to the point of selling out his own daughter and her drug problems (he gave the Enquirerer the story in exchange for them dropping corroborating story about other victims). He admitted under oath he did these things out of fear of others believing his accuser.

DA did not press charges because there was little physical evidence (not surprising considering the description) but he did believe Cosby was guilty and said so. Statue of limitations and rape is actually very very hard to prove criminally (99% of women destroy evidence without even thinking about it). The women DID want to come forward for corroboration in a criminal case (usually only allowed in penalty phase not guilt phase) so the DA DID have the women for that.

As my husband learned in law school, contrary to what you see on TV, DAs set more criminals free before lunch than most Defense attorney’s do all month. DAs rarely go for anything other than a slam dunk (they care more about their conviction rate than anything). Lack of criminal charges is not evidence of innocence.

Read the article, start there. Do your research like I did.

That refers to the WaPo expose which in turn refers to Cos’ PhD at UMass.

I do not know any of the women but I went to UMass while Cos was getting his PhD. Virtually all the students there had heard about it. It was occasionally in the campus student newspaper. We all talked about it. However, I never talked with any student who had actually seen him on or off campus. The rumor was that he wrote some of the cartoon series scripts and submitted those for his PhD classwork. It was a bit of a running joke at the time. Under the surface, it seemed apparent that something sneaky was going on.

Do you know how the other women who gave corroborating testimony were found in the civil case?

Yup,I've read quite a bit about him in recent months.I had never even heard of him until that stuff hit the British press.*Everything* I've read about him...and *every* photo and video I've seen of him...says to me *whackjob*.So much so that I could fairly easily (if not *very* easily) believe that he was capable of that kind of stuff.

OTOH,nothing I've seen/heard/read about Cosby over the years has said "whackjob" (or anything else negative) to me.

As I've said a number of times I'm not *convinced* that he's innocent...I don't have nearly enough info,or experience,to be certain either way. However,if I was forced to bet I'd bet that he's innocent.

But I certainly wouldn't bet everything (or nearly everything) I have on his innocence.

You can sit on the fence -- it's okay. Cosby's fate is not in your hands. His legacy is falling into the dark abyss and he with it.

Yet Universities liberally accept money from Muslims who rape and murder women and children as a part of their governing “religion.”

Do your research like I did..

Research plate is full. Right now I am busy trying to get a handle on the seniority rules for the Senate. Something is rotten in the Cloak Room. But that is for another thread.....
