He was talking about the huge number of blacks who kill other blacks in their own community, while that same community all but ignores it.
I did not hear him say he was against the law abiding citizens who have FA's. That would be a whole different issue if that's his position.

Generally, people say first what matters most.
He phrased it with the firearms described in some detail before bringing up criminals. That tends to indicate he sees the firearms as the problem before the criminals, and if you read enough statements by anti-gunners, they parse things the same way.

I believe he was just stating a reality - high powered firearms in the hands of outlaws make them even more dangerous. We can agree there needs to be ways to keep these guns out of the hands of outlaws. He was talking about outlaws, not law abiding citizens. What needs to be done is a hard, fixed, mandatory punishment for crimes committed with a firearm. Unfortunately, the courts today twist the Constitution to invalidate mandatory minimums.
