There's a social aspect to this mindset as well.

I know my kids generation has been programmed to believe there's something fundamentally wrong with or lacking in whiteness, as in the town we live in is 'too white'.

Have you ever noticed that a “historically black” community is said to be in need of preservation (though it may have only been majority-black for the last 20-30 years), while majority-white communities are said to be lacking, and in need of, “diversity”?
