The Democrats: A Party of Very Old Men and Women?
American Thinker ^ | 11/28/2014 | By Barry Casselman

As a person now of many accumulated years, I am not one to denigrate anyone being fully active in the senior stage of his career, but I cannot help but observe that one of the nation’s two major political parties is now being run, and offering to be run in the future, by almost exclusively some very old men and women.

The exception in the Democratic Party is the current President, Barack Obama, 53, and most of those on his White House staff. They unfortunately have recently been massively rejected by the American voters.

Just re-elected to their leadership posts in the U.S. House and Senate, and also enormously unpopular, are Nancy Pelosi, 74, and Harry Reid, 75. The party’s leading candidates so far for the 2016 presidential election are Hillary Clinton, who will be then 69; Jerry Brown, 78; Joe Biden, 74; Elizabeth Warren, 67; and Bernie Sanders, 75. Only Andrew Cuomo, 58, who may not run, will be under 60.

Contrast that with the Republican Party. House Speaker John Boehner is 65. Majority Leader-elect Mitch McConnell is 72. Not exactly youngsters, but looking at the most likely GOP presidential contenders in 2016, you have Chris Christie, who will be 53; Jeb Bush, 63; Paul Ryan, 46; Rand Paul, 53; Scott Walker, 49; Bobby Jindal, 45; Ted Cruz, 46; Mike Pence, 57; Marco Rubio, 45; and Susana Martinez, 57.

There are, of course, some promising Democrats who are under 60, just as there are significant Republicans over 70. But I’m talking about the comparative leadership of both parties – i.e., those who now have the most say in what each party tells the nation it stands for, and most significantly, those who are likely to run for president.

This is a good point, and it is one that needs to be artfully weaved into Republican messaging over the next two years. Nothing ugly, nasty, or personal; humor is the trick. But keep reminding people that the democrats are old people with old ideas.

The GOP needs to be mindful of, and fight against, the "ratchet effect".

If old Democrats fade away and get replaced by young, vital Republicans -- if the Republicans simply "hold the line" and keep things as they are, then the day will surely some when old Republicans fade away to be replaced by young, vital Democrats. It is the way of the world. With Republicans in power in the House and Senate, we need to push back and promote free markets and personal responsibility, and smaller government. If we do not, then it's all pointless. Status Quo does not help us.

DIMocRATs...the Crusty, Smelly Party. No “New Car Smell” for you! Being in their presence is like visiting a poorly run medicaid nursing home.

Well, the Democrats can always quote the great Ronald Reagan when he was told in a debate that he was too old for the office.

“I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent’s youth and inexperience.”

Doesn’t matter as long as they appeal to the right groups.

Who is Susana Martinez?

No, the Demonics are a party of lying, corrupt, demented perverts that support everything that is antithetical to this country's founding. And they're old and ugly... both inside and out.

Sounds like it should be a musical theme park ride at China’s new Hello Kitty world.

The dem party is also fractured. It is made up of disparate groups who conflict with each other. Most anti-semitism emenates from the dem party. The dem party offers Israel as little support as it can get away with. Rank and file blacks and hispanics really don’t like each otrher regardless of what their political leadership says.
