Some guy went nuts this morning in Austin. He shot the Mexican Consulate, a Federal building and the Austin Police Department. Real genius.

He shot buildings?

Anybody want to take bets on him being, or being portrayed as, a right-wing nut? Some kind of nativist bigot? Based on his shooting the Mexican Consulate building.

Juan Williams said the other day that the police shouldn’t kill anyone. Way to go, Juan! (sarcasm)

Gonna be a long day for some and with IH-35 shut down it will be havoc in the roadway system.
And they are apparently still processing the scene.

Austin Police Department Assistant Chief Raul Munguia told reporters that a 911 call reported
shots being fired at 2:22 a.m. local time (3:22 a.m. ET). An officer outside the force’s
headquarters then spotted the suspect fire a gun.

Munguia said suspect was in a vehicle but when officers approached they “noticed what
appeared to be an improvised explosive device” inside. They dragged the suspect away from
vehicle for his safety but noticed he was wearing “some kind of vest” and “backed away
from the suspect” before creating a security perimeter around the scene.

By 6 a.m. local time (7 a.m. ET) officers had still not been able to get near the suspect.

Authorities have not offered a motive, but the police chief said that the shooter’s “violent anti-government behavior” — as evidenced by attacking buildings that belong to Mexico’s government, the U.S. government and, in the police headquarters, the city government — may have come from ongoing and often vitriolic debates in society.

The police chief is an idiot lib.
