Chuck Schumer: Passing Obamacare in 2010 Was a Mistake
The National Journal ^ | November 25, 2014 | Sarah Mimms

Sen. Chuck Schumer upbraided his own party Tuesday for pushing the Affordable Care Act through Congress in 2010.

While Schumer emphasized during a speech at the National Press Club that he supports the law and that its policies "are and will continue to be positive changes," he argued that the Democrats acted wrongly in using their new mandate after the 2008 election to focus on the issue rather than the economy at the height of a terrible recession.

The third-ranking Senate Democrat noted that just about 5 percent of registered voters in the United States lacked health insurance before the implementation of the law, arguing that to focus on a problem affecting such "a small percentage of the electoral made no political sense."

___________

You are so right on that statement. Schumer defines sleaze and opportunist. Our country has suffered because of his self-serving leadership.

Politicians work for themselves and their party, in that order. Voters and then citizens are just obstacles to be overcome.

If I remember, chucku was right up front in the dem “We Won” chorus line that slammed the door on any argument from the minority GOPers.

They won’t admit it, but they can see this POS is going down, by hook or crook. They blew the once in a lifetime crack at it.

The Democrat’s ‘experts’ helped pass the fraud Stimulus bill first. Then Democrats insisted on passing more fraud. There was no depression, well except in those who actually believed the “jobs, jobs, jobs” con.

In normal recessions — the argument goes — an increase in discretionary government spending is unnecessary and even counterproductive. But in the event that a recession becomes a depression, a Keynesian stimulus package might work.
