So, back to the job interviews. If the employer has been watching the news, are you, young black man or woman, going to be seen as you are?

the sad thing is that person will most likely not be given benefit of any doubts. This is why is is so incumbent on black indivuals to not be scared away from identifying and solving the problems in the black "community " generally- why whites can only do so much to help them.

Because I know most white people do not just lump all blacks into a group (like they do to THEMSELVES) but treat each person individually. For instance, if I were an employer and had a job opening and one of my existing black employees applied for it, if he were qualified I might give it to him rather than to anyone from the outside that I didnt know, black or white. However, if I decided to go outside I might hire the white guy not the black, all else being equal, because I know the general score on which group generally has a better track record for holding jobs. That's probably called racist these days but how do we overcome common sense (as much as obama et al would like us to.)?

Had OJ been found guilty, as he no doubt should have been considering that huge numbers of men have been sent to death row or life in prison with far less evidence against them, imagine what would have happened.

Property taxes are an abomination, people are beginning to realize that no one who is subject to property taxes can ever be said to really OWN real estate. Mortgage payments only purchase the right to rent the property from the county. Many who pay piti (principal, interest, taxes and insurance) in one monthly payment are probably very surprised to see how much they still have to pay every month after their mortgage is burned.

That is exactly what is happening in my town (and state of NJ); people are basically paying almost a month’s rent in property taxes (on top of their principal, interest, and insurance), and it continues when the mortgage is satisfied. The state will freeze your property taxes when you reach 65 or so, but they are frozen at a high rate - and you have to pay increases up front and receive a rebate of the difference the following year. People who haven’t bought homes do so in neighboring PA if they can bear the commute, and those who have bought homes are building illegal apartments if possible (where do people think illegal aliens live?). Those caught with such apartments are rarely asked to remove them; instead, the municipality prefers to just increase their property taxes.

I work with a couple of people who would have retired if they could sell their homes; they definitely can’t stay in them without their paychecks...

Gilder picked that up from a famous 1965 research paper by Patrick Moynihan- ‘The Negro Family: The Case For National Action’ more commonly referred to as the Moynihan Report. Moynihan’s fellow liberals are still angry with him over that paper.

Yeah it is- there’s no excuse for being a dimwitted milquetoast ‘conservative’ at 50+ just because you were raised in a liberal enclave. You’re being far too kind to him. Besides that leafy Maryland suburb was like 5 miles from Anacostia, and if he couldn’t see what was going on as he grew up he’s far too stupid to be sharing his inner dialogue with the rest of us.
