(Reuters) - Criticism of President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law by a top Senate Democrat this week laid bare post-election tensions that could pose challenges for the party in upcoming fights with Republicans over taxes, energy and immigration.
In a high-profile speech on Tuesday dissecting Democrats' losses in this month's midterm elections, Charles Schumer, the No. 3 Senate Democrat, listed "a cascade of issues" botched by the White House, starting with Obama's push for healthcare reforms soon after he took office in 2009.
Later on Tuesday, the White House took the unusual step of publicly pledging to veto a deal on tax breaks that Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid was trying to hammer out with Republicans in the House of Representatives.

This is my fear too. Seeing all these riots makes me concerned that he will declare Martial Law (or some such) and say it's too unsettled for him to leave.
Congressional Democrats were told Americans will love Obamacare. They were told to repeat the Obama/Gruber lies. It cost them both houses of Congress. They should be mad: Mad at Obama and mad at themselves.

If the GOPe has two brain cells, they will drive a wedge in this divide to a permanent status. Pass the bill enabling the XL pipeline, for starters. This is a win-win two-fer. Divides the Dems and promote oil independence.

My impression of Schummer’s comment is, we messed up by not listening to the people, but if you put us back in charge we’ll do better. I think it may be a political tactic for 2016.
