DeAndre Joshua, 20, was found dead inside of a parked car just hours after a wave of violence and destruction washed over the surrounding St. Louis area. His family says they are positive his death is tied to the demonstrations over a grand jury's decision not to indict Michael Brown's killer.
Police are investigating the death of a man found inside of a parked car, a couple blocks from where Missouri teen Michael Brown was killed in August, as a homicide, according to a local report.
The body of 20-year-old DeAndre Joshua, who was identified by his family to USA Today, was found near Fergusons Canfield Green Apartments around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
His death followed the first wave of violence and destruction that washed through the St. Louis area over a grand jury's decision not to indict Brown's killer.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar wouldn't provide the man's cause of death or say whether it's connected to the nearby riots when reached by the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
KTVI reported that the driver's side window was shot out while a nearby resident claims they overheard four people with guns talking about looting and killing someone Monday night.
"I knew it was going to be true," Richard Taylor told the Post Dispatch after hearing word of the young mans death. "When I got up this morning, I saw this."
Taylor said he called police after hearing the mens conversation but officers never showed up.
"There was a lot going on last night, but I thought at least someone would show up to arrest these guys," Taylor said.
The young mans death has been ruled suspicious by police but has yet to be confirmed as tied to the early mornings violence.
His family, speaking to USA Today, has expressed their conviction that it is.
"Police don't care he's black," his grandmother Renita Towns said on whether his death will be thoroughly investigated by local authorities.
One relative, standing among sobbing family members, called Joshua "a good kid" who "never had any problems."
"It's like somebody just hit us with a brick," Brian Joshua, 45, told the paper.
Brian Joshua said the 20-year-old had graduated from high school and was working at a Walmart.
A Facebook page appearing to belong to him lists him as having also studied at Southern Illinois University, a claim the university denied Wednesday.
Facebook users, identified on that page as his family, have since expressed their heartbreak over his sudden loss.
"God calls another one of his children home, Deandre Joshua, lord we pray and ask you once again help this family lord," Stephanie Joshua posted on her Facebook wall Tuesday afternoon.
An autopsy on the body is underway, according to The St. Louis County Medical Examiner's office.
his facebook account.... https://www.facebook.com/deandre.joshua?fref=ts
Why would the police bother to show up? They are probably thinking it’s best to let the black folk police their own neighborhoods.
That’s what happens when you help a grand jury. You get hit by the brothers.
He was a GJ witness.
“plantation psychosis”
If so..., what was his testimony? We are SUPPOSED TO never know...
Was he a witness? I read here in a comment he was NOT but was involved in the drug trade.
You’d think GJ witness getting killed would be THE headline, but that would be against the MSM spin on the whole story.
There is no documentation to confirm that. It is only being said to mislead.
What is true, according to Dorian Johnson's own Facebook page, is that Andre was a friend of his.
Dorian lived in the CANFIELD APARTMENT complex and it is likely that Andre lived or often visited there since he was killed right by it.
No. false report.
He was a ‘friend’ of Dorian Johnson. He died right outside the same apartment complex Dorian lived in and Mike Brown lived in.
I apologize. I read yesterday a rumor that he was a GJ member.
When I read your comments , I missed seeing the word ‘witness’.
Must be time to go to bed.
Carry on folks, ignore my dementia.
yep, one less Amish for the judicial system to have to deal with in the future.
Condolences to family and friends of DeAndre Joshua.
It should be a big deal, but it will be covered up. They are already trying to plant a fake story that “someone heard” four random guys saying they wanted to rob someone so they called the police but police didn’t come.
exactly
No belts were stolen either. Hehehe.
Word.
Google deandre joshua images. Someone at least has screen captured his photos from his Facebook page, where he’s shown with lots of cash. I saw another one last night where he’s blowing smoke and “dope” was in the caption. His family has been saying that he was a good kid with a job, and didn’t do drugs. Funny, I remember the same kind of thing being said of Mike Brown.
>> More Amish violins.
Yup, they orchestrated the entire movement.
