Ferguson officials: Where was the National Guard?
St Louie Post Dispatch ^ | November 25, 2014 | Christine Byers & David Hunn

Posted on 11/25/2014 1:12:18 PM PST by Second Amendment First

As ruins of about a dozen businesses here smoldered today, an "extremely frustrated" Mayor James Knowles III was asking what happened to onetime plans to shield vulnerable businesses with a protective line of Missouri National Guard members.

"The National Guard was not deployed in enough time to save all our businesses," he said in a press conference just after 2 p.m., calling the delay "deeply disturbing."

Earlier, in an interview, the mayor said: “What should have happened last night? They should have had National Guard troops protecting the hard targets in Ferguson and allowed law enforcement to pursue a very mobile crowd of looters and arsonists. That’s the problem. They (the police) could not secure the commercial districts.”

Knowles added, “I don’t believe we’ve seen the commitment from the state we hoped to get. And knowing that there’s so many people out there who committed a crime, who committed destruction, who aren’t going to be held accountable, because law enforcement was overwhelmed — it makes me concerned for the nights to come.”

St. Louis city officials said they requested 400 Guard troops, which were deployed by Police Chief Sam Dotson to protect government buildings and businesses. They delivered what a mayor's aide said was a good result.

Nixon's office has not responded to requests for comment today, but announced that he will hold a press conference with Guard leaders at 3 p.m. at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a Republican, said the governor, a Democrat, owes an explanation for an "inexplicable" decision to hold back on Guard help.

Of course they want it. AS LONG AS SOMEBODY ELSE CAN BE BLAMED.

They were happy to see 100s of Mexicans murdered with FAF weapons....as long as evil American gun stores and the 2A could be blamed for it.

It’s all about establishing a false narrative, which they know that American Pravda (ABCNNBCBSNYTWP) will adopt and swear to. If they can have Dan Rather find a memo, it will prove that evil tea party types in the NG among the brass did it, to make Obama look bad, and because they are white racists who hate blacks.

Ergo, we also need to take a very close look at purging the NG of all states against those dinosaurs who are riddled with dangerous levels of “old-think.”

Nixon should be the brunt of 25 lawsuits from the burned businesses.

Can’t imagine any Democrat Governor wanting to be responsible for the killing of any blacks.

I think the governor needs to resign. Calling out the national guard, then having them standby is a seriously wrong..

FReepers understand why the National Guard deployment was done.. The Demoncrat party needs to keep blacks riled up and on the plantation! Business owners should SUE Gov. Nixon for standing down the National Guard! A clear case of ‘Dereliction of duty’, Benghazi-style.

Don’t know about Nat’l Guard, but the many fires started and left burning seemed strange until I read this:

“Members of the New Black Panther Party were shooting at firefighters as they attempted to do their job, according to a report from Gotnews.com.”

Of course, you’d never hear this on the MSM...

And harder to start fires. If you’re wet, get a ticket straight to jail.

It seems the National Guard was everywhere except Ferguson, where they were the most needed

Apparently there aren’t any Korean businessmen in Ferguson. They know how to protect their property.

It's not about the National Guard or cops, it's about rules of engagement issued by worthless politicians.

Only one order needs to be given to cops and Guard, "Restore order by any means necessary", that's all that is needed.

Nixon should be the brunt of 25 lawsuits from the burned businesses.

Their insurance companies have deep enough pockets to sue Nixon and everyone else. But can they? And would they win? I don't know. Do you?

The reaction among the left sites does not agree with your take. The impression I’m getting is that they understand this was an embarrassment for them and the whole thing has backfired badly.

That's part of it.

Another part is it is all fun and games for the Limo Liberals, Hipsters and wanna be anarchists to agitate and even organize riots to ¡Viva la Revolución! in their Mike Brown and Che tee shirts, but it is another to see a city with real people in real misery subjected to looting and riots.

That got what they asked for and what they actively worked to make happen only to realize that their handiwork is not what they thought it would be.

The National Guard would have been equally as worthless without the political will to SHOOT. It took 53 dead and more than 2,000 wounded to bring the L.A. riots under control.

“The impression I’m getting is that they understand this was an embarrassment for them and the whole thing has backfired badly.”

Today. They’ll move on and repeat the highlights, omitting key aspects of the story until it’s Bush-Cheney-Halliburton and enshrined into the lore of the left. This has that “forever” smell to it.

They also got arrested en masse, were hauled off to jail, and were only freed without charges because they’d passed the arms around so much nobody knew who fired what (or, at least, could prove it) and EVERYONE KEPT THEIR MOUTHS SHUT when interrogated about who did what.

Much is said about their their laudable act of defending their own; little is said about how close they were to being destroyed by the gov’t for it, and how hard it was to shut up about it.
