Ferguson businesses torched in overnight protests

Smoke billowed from burned-out buildings and sidewalks were strewn with broken glass Tuesday morning after Ferguson erupted over a grand jury's decision not to indict a white police officer in the killing of unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Firefighters were dousing the blackened remains of some businesses and at least one was still ablaze. Some Ferguson stores that weren't burned had smashed display windows, but the streets of the St. Louis suburb were mostly clear.

Monday night's protests were far more destructive than any of those that followed Brown's Aug. 9 death, with more than a dozen businesses badly damaged or destroyed. Authorities reported hearing hundreds of gunshots, which for a time prevented fire crews from fighting the flames.

I heard the despair of one of these business owners on the radio. He said he has nowhere to work and no way to feed his kids now.

I cynically suspect that working for a living to pay for one’s children is a concept lost on most of the thugs who destroyed this poor man’s livelihood.

The irony is these are blacks who employed fellow blacks.

Who now have no paycheck and no income and can’t put food on the table

The rioters did far more to destroy Ferguson than Darren Wilson could ever done.

He may have killed a thug but they took a meat cleaver to a community.

It’s simply part of doing business, whether it be looters or lava. That’s why you buy insurance.
Looters have their hands full which means they aren’t shooting at you.

How many of these businesses were minority owned and provided employment for many people in the community? Most of these businesses will likely not reopen and the Ferguson residents who worked there will now be unemployed. Ferguson residents will now have no businesses in their community because of these punks.

I lay this at the feet of the DA. If he had publicly stated that no-one would be prosecuted for using deadly force to protect his property these businesses would have stood a chance. As it is they had to choose to let the ferals destroy their livelyhood or get persecuting for putting some of the animals down.

Like termites the residents will infest other communities, just like the Katrina-ites who moved to Houston.

Yep, Obama gave a big "FU" to the law with his Amnesty.

There’s not much you can do about folks who want to burn down their community.

I’m not shedding tears over their plight. Which was entirely self-inflicted.

Watch. Before long there will be a litany of complaints that the town of Ferguson has become a “RETAIL DESERT” and there is no place for the black population to find the articles they require for their daily lives.
Additionally, the unemployment situation for all black has been quite badly worsened, and for all ages.
There will emerge a “campaign” to have people build new buildings and for business people to open new “targets.”
Oops, I should have typed “businesses”

That was a huge reason I left Houston 10 years ago. I could smell the shifting winds. I do miss the food greatly!

And blacks wonder why businesses are hesitant to locate in their neighborhoods.

Something tells me that “whitey” didn’t own this business.

Excerpt from a FR post from Front Page Magazine a couple of days ago:

“thirsting for the blood of officer Darren Wilson not because he is guilty but because he is white.”

I think that pretty much nails it.
