I find it remarkable that the short excerpt did not include that the student was a female. It seemed to me that this foundational piece of information should have been in the opening sentence or two.
It’s too bad we don’t have a whole big group of folks in the information industry whose job it is to convey the actual facts of situations from far (and near) away places to us mere mortals who should know the events of the day... Maybe we could call this phantom class of folks “reporters”, instead of the story teller “journalists” we are currently cursed with.
