It started with a simple request "will you just walk on the sidewalk?" Forty-five seconds later, Michael Brown lay sprawled on the street, shot dead by a police officer who had never before fired his gun in the line of duty.
And as he drove away from the 18-year-old's body, heading to the Ferguson police station to wash Brown's blood from his hands and surrender his gun, all Officer Darren Wilson could think was, "I'm just kind of in shock of what just happened. I really didn't believe it."
Those were the words he shared with a grand jury. And late Monday, Wilson's explanation of that deadly day in early August became public for the first time, in a small part of an enormous trove of documents released by St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch.
Thousands of pages of police interviews, autopsy reports and secret testimony including Wilson's were made public after McCulloch announced the grand jury's decision not to indict Wilson in Brown's death.
Until late Monday, Wilson's voice had remained silent, and the general story line went largely unchallenged: White police officer shoots unarmed young black man trying to surrender on a summer day in a St. Louis suburb.
But on Monday, Wilson's terror and panic were plain to see in 90 pages of his testimony before the grand jury on Sept. 16 and an 18-page interview with detectives that was recorded Aug. 10, the day after Brown's death.

Proof that Whites are intelligent. They don’t attack police officers sitting in their cruisers. The Gentle Giant obviously was an idiot.
IIRC, they say he didn't play football cuz he couldn't hurt anyone. What a crock.
Wilson was 6’4”? Doesn’t look it.
Is.
if you ever watch “the first 48” on a and e, you can see that there is a culture in the inner city of violence, irrational thinking, hatred, revenge, and basically not living a normal civilized life. Darren Wilson would have come from a much different background.
Bet the convenience store manager knows that look, too.
A job well done Officer Wilson. You are a hero.
And may you have a long, successful career in the justice system.
RE: And may you have a long, successful career in the justice system.
Sadly, I don’t think he has a career in the justice system anywhere. The Papers have already published his address. He’s a marked man.
“...Until late Monday....the general story line went largely unchallenged...”
Only if you’ve been living in a cave or something....
One street thug is gone and Swisher Sweets theft declined just a smidge’ when the “gentle giant” went to that big Swisher Sweet in the sky.
Comments by you four or five days after the incident:

Was he too fat to run after the kid if he was assaulted and make a physical arrest??? He had to shoot the kid in the back MULTIPLE times??
I see no justification for this based on the reports from the scene and confirmed.
Brown was filled with hatred of white people and anyone he could bully. He probably was filled with demons.
Maybe he was a lycan.
The article is still misleading. It says, “Brown swore at the officer, and the two men walked away. So Wilson called for backup, threw his police-issued Chevy Tahoe into reverse and cut the young men off.” They neglected to mention that Wilson didn’t start backing up until he saw the cigars in Brown’s possession, and then he put 2 & 2 together from the radio call informing of the burglary nearby. That’s when he called for backup and put his car into reverse. The article makes it sound like he backed up for no good reason, that the two were already walking away. I hate journalists that only give part of the story. They will keep this mess going by their intentional omissions.
If I had a quarter every time I read a news article pertaining to the “Unarmed Black Teenager” in Ferguson, I’d be rich man.
I am willing to bet that the word “Unarmed” will still be used if this case is referred to in the future.

...
Golly, I wonder why they would leave that out.

For a full week in March, 2012 NBC Nightly News and Today, along with its local Miami affiliate ran audio tape of George Zimmermans 911 call the night he fatally shot Trayvon Martin.
NBC viewers learned that Zimmerman had said to the 911 dispatcher, This guy looks like hes up to no good. He looks black.
That was pretty damning evidence of racial profiling. It was also an entirely false representation of the 911 conversation. Someone at NBC had edited the tape to make Zimmerman appear racist. The unedited sequence of the call went like this:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like hes up to no good. Or hes on drugs or something. Its raining and hes just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy is he black, white or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.
The Dispatcher’s question to Zimmerman was cut off.
This report at the L.A time that you observe is no different.
They want to give readers an impression that it was Office Wilson who started the scuffle.
The irresponsible media is partly responsible for the riots.
It’s actually the drinking word: “Unarmed”, do a shot.
