United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon predicted on Monday that the “momentum” of countries recognizing the “state of Palestine” will grow.
Ban, who spoke before a UN committee on Palestinian rights, urged Israel and the Palestinian Authority to "step back from the brink" and return to peace talks.
"The Israeli and Palestinian people face a shared fate on shared land. There is no erasing the other," Ban said, according to the AFP news agency.
"Governments and parliaments are taking action. That momentum will grow," said Ban, referring to recent moves by governments in Europe to recognize “Palestine”.
British lawmakers voted overwhelmingly on October 13 in favor of a non-binding motion to "recognize the state of Palestine alongside the state of Israel as a contribution to securing a negotiated two-state solution".
Sweden announced on October 30 it officially recognized the state of Palestine, a move criticized by Israel and the United States.
Last week, Spanish lawmakers adopted a motion calling on the government to recognize a Palestinian state, and France has announced an upcoming vote on the matter as well.

The UN will have a right to be called a one-world government when its Secretary General is elected by popular world-wide vote, which will never happen. In the mean time, the seat is occupied by career idiots who have a knack for getting everything fundamentally wrong, and who are rightfully never taken seriously.
I recognize it as Parasitine, the only “country” supported entirely by foreign contributions, most of which are stolen by its “government”. I also recognize it as a threat.

The UN has degenerated into a dysfunctional group of the worst scum of the earth, with a few exceptions.
They would recognize the Mexican and the Colombian Drug cartels as "legitimate countries," given the opportunity.

It takes a lot more than the blessing of Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Pakistan, China, Iran, Qatar, U.A.E, Kuwait, Yemen, and a bunch of muslim-led African basket-case countries to pretend that another sad excuse for human animals actually know what a real, functional independent country is!
The UN is the Devil’s compass. Whatever direction it’s going is the wrong direction.
It would be nice if the cycle of stupidity has ended and the cycle of reason has begun... but it seems we are long way off from that day.
What “Palestinian” leaders and many others understand is that if “Palestine” is recognized as a state, it almost immediately stops the special “UN refugee status” to which PA owes their existence and “donations” / “support” money, which are unaccountable - just ask Suha Arafat.
The Palestinian tax base is minuscule, and much of it is derived from the Palestinians who work at Israeli factories or other enterprises.
So they can talk a good game about “independent state” and “occupation,” but financially it would be a disaster for PA and the step down for the people who live there.
The mindless cycle of destruction will end when Islam is eradicated from the earth. This will happen. Islam will be annihilated. If you are a Muslim, there is still time to escape, but you must leave Islam at once. The gates of mercy are still open. Don’t delay.
