The shipping season on the upper Mississippi River will end on Thursday as ice surrounding locks and dams near Minnesota's Twin Cities forced the earliest winter closure on records that date back to 1969, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said.

I live about 25 miles west of Chicago. It is a cold and windy and wet night. I just walked my dog and It was pretty brutal.

We are in for a horrible winter.

Remember, weather isn’t climate, even if it happens for 18 years in a row.
Only projections that don’t turn out to be true are climate.
The science is settled, don’t believe your lying eyes.

Anthropomorphic Global Warming is a religion.

Glaciers could cover from Canada to Amarillo and it would not matter.

An article on MSN today is about dumbfounded scientists who can't explain why the Antarctic sea ice keeps growing. To make matters worse they managed to get a robot sub under the ice only to find it is much, much thicker than they thought.

Oh the humanity!

It's the Hottest it's ever been in the Upper Mississippi!

That ice is actually heat crystals that happen when it gets VERY warm and wraps around hot and becomes cold. It's a result of Al Gore's “millions of degrees” that are just below the surface of the earth.

The very hot earth's crust is what makes ducks dance.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Morgan Fairchild PROVED Global Warming back in 1978.

We have a consensus! We have hijacked the word Science and can put it on any nonsense because we are the Left and we are the Government and we know all!!

That’s not “cold” you are feeling, it is really Heat, it just has a lower score than the heat you were wishing for, see it really is Global Warming

Since ice data on the Mississippi River has great commercial value to shippers and farmers, I have to believe that someone has been keeping reliable records that go WAY back before 1969.

Thanks for posting.

The most recent politically correct explanation for ice growth near the South Pole is [was] that ice below the visible surface is melting, runs down to the ocean edge, then artificially cools the sea water there, which makes ice grow faster, but thinner.

In fact, there are numerous volcanic hot spots beneath the ice, so the theory was plausible, but not for the same reasons the Climate Change folks claim.

106 degrees expected in southern California this weekend.
Too hot, too cold. Must be man causing it and not that big ball in the sky called the sun.

Well thank God they changed the term from Global Warming to Climate Change! Otherwise, they all would have felt pretty silly!

We are in for a horrible winter.

Just think how much worse it would be if we weren't having world record global warming!

Google just ended a four year study looking into the feasibility of renewable resources such as solar and wind power. What they determined was that these alternate energy sources were fantastically expensive and absurdly inefficient. They even question if the amount of energy used to manufacture and maintain windmills and such actually exceed the amount of energy they produce over their lives.”

We could make wind turbines viable if they would harvest the shredded poultry downstream to feed the starving victims of the ongoing Baraqqi Depression.
