With the war in Israel over, the people who left their bomb shelters were looking for a strong response to Hamas, and they found what they were looking for. Hamas wanted death so they have decided to respond with LIFE!
An interesting project has begun and has immediately entered into high gear, since time is of the essence.
In the exact areas where over 1,000 rockets and missiles fell, Israeli farmers will plant 100,000 new fruit trees! Thats a ratio of 100-1.
Many of these new fruit trees will be planted in the actual holes made by the rockets!
This is a positive response to hate and destruction!
Fruit trees means new life, sustenance, food, drink and blessings. A cup of wine for Shabbos, olive oil to light the Menorah and much more.
Many Farms and Nurseries have given Zo Artzeinu trees on credit to plant, and Farmers have been working overtime to make sure they plant all the trees on-time. Shmitta (The Sabbatical year) begins in Israel on the Jewish new year of Rosh HaShanah (Sept 24th), and ALL the trees must be paid for by then.
The Torah states this very clearly: For six years you may plant your fields but the seventh year is a Sabbath of Sabbaths for the land. It is Hashems Sabbath during which you may not plant your fields (Vayikya / Leviticus 25:3-4)
The largest organization in Israel for planting fruit trees, Zo Artzeinu (Hebrew for This Is Our Land) will be spearheading this project and making sure everything is done properly.
Israeli farmers have been preparing the ground and are doing all the back-breaking work. They are doing all the physical labor but are asking for help from people all over the world in purchasing the actual tree and sophisticated drip irrigation system. This system is fully computerized and uses minimal water in irrigating the fields.
So until Rosh HaShanah, people can STILL partner with a farmer, purchase a fruit tree, and share in the Mitzva and Bracha of Shmitta, which will start on Rosh Hashana. All the necessary information can be found on Zo Artzeinus website
In addition to the Mitzva of Shmitta and helping Israeli farmers, this project is also a GREAT way to bring Brachos and blessings into your life!
Hashem promises to bless anyone who helps keep Shmitta, as it says; Vitzivisi Et Birchasi, I will ordain My blessing for you (Vayikra / Leviticus 25:20)
Finally, this project is not only a great response to the enemy of Israel, it is actually the best way to insure an everlasting peace! Keep My decrees and safeguard My laws. If you keep them, you will live in the land securely. The land will produce its fruit, and you will eat your fill, thus living securely in the land I will direct My blessing to you (Vayikra / Leviticus 25:18-21)
We wish them well on this project in rebuilding the land, planting before Shmitta and in bringing about a true and everlasting peace.
For information about this project and how you can plant trees join in Shmitta and Share in this Blessing, please go to Zo Artzeinus website.
In the late 40s and early 50s, our Baptist Sunday class collected pennies and nickels from us little kids to plant trees in the new nation of Israel. I like to think that some of those trees I helped pay for are still growing and producing.

That’s one way to take advantage of iron rich newly fertilized&’tilled’ ground.
I admire their optimism. The planting of seeds has always made
me feel hopeful,
Good to know, thanks.
Read the story about Eli Cohen. He was an Israeli spy during the early 60’s who worked for the Syrians.
Story goes he told the Syrians to plant orange trees so their troops could stay out of the sun. He then told the Israelis to bomb the orange groves.
Brilliant plan.
Thanks for posting this.
When this 80 year old Jew was a kid going to Sunday School and daily Hebrew school, the central corridor was festooned with large prints of trees, each tree without a single leaf.
The kids, with pride, purchased paper “leaves”, licked the glue on the back and put the sticker on a pre-inked outline of a leaf. The heading was “Plant another tree in Israel.”
Individual classes would “adopt a tree” and compete with other classes as to how fast and how many trees we could plant.
As the result “THE DESERT WAS MADE TO BLOOM”
Haven’t thought of that for way to many years.
I wonder if I could buy a tree.
You can, go to the JNF link I posted upthread. One of our local grocers has JNF donation cans at checkout, I think there may be a separate one for trees. I remember the leaves and trees, now we worry about homeless people. Of course I remember buying a square inch of Gettysburg. Still have the “deed”. I suppose funding improvements. Don’t do that either anymore.
The Israeli response to terrorism — let terrorists out of jail and plant fruit trees. Maybe King David should have tried that with the Philistines.
