David Brooks: "On The Republican Side, The Great And The Good Are Hoping For Jeb Bush"

JUDY WOODRUFF, PBS NEWSHOUR: Well, it — let’s look at those.

You have already got some Republicans. It’s only two weeks almost since the midterms. You have already got Republicans out there talking about whether they’re going to — or people talking about whether they’re going to run, whether it’s Jeb Bush. John Kasich won by 30 points in the state of Ohio, won reelection.

Are we beginning, David, to see the shape of who may run on the Republican side? We know, on the Democratic side, Jim Webb, the former United States senator from Virginia, formed an exploratory committee.

DAVID BROOKS: Right. Right.

JUDY WOODRUFF: I don’t know how much a threat you think he is to Hillary Clinton.

DAVID BROOKS: Right.

Well, on the Republican side, the great and the good are hoping for Jeb Bush, very pro-immigration, by the way. And I think he would…

RUTH MARCUS: … Jeb Bush.

DAVID BROOKS: If he runs, he would be strong.

John Kasich has been undertalked about. He is — knows Washington very well, was a senior budget official, a congressman. He has been a very successful governor, very popular, won by huge margins in the swingiest of the swing states, has strong connections in among religious conservatives, is just quirky enough for a country that’s kind of angry, but just establishment enough for a country that doesn’t want a crazy person.

David Brooks hates conservatives... why would anyone talk to him about anything... He’s a hater and he wants Bush or McCain to run.

The nouveau riche flooding into California and NYC don’t seem to be any better. They obviously pay less taxes under their recent tax cuts of the past generations because they continue to become more liberal or in the case of the Republican rich more feckless.

High taxes are bad because it always leads to big government. So, I would rather tax rich liberals less and have less money for the government than punish rich liberals via taxation.

Never forget that the greatest evil Americans face today is big government and especially the federal government.

Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

On the contrary when the people who run the country don't pay their taxes that is when we get big government. That is exactly what happened. If they and their media keep shilling for more money and rich libs can buy off rich GOPers with public money that is how big government becomes unstoppable. Why do you think when confronted with tea party challengers Both of these groups claim they are working together to get things done? What are they getting done? They are spending the public money! They are spending it on themselves and on their interests.

John Kasich has done a fair job as governor here, but I’ve never thought of him as Presidential material.

When government is small and limited, and the people who run it are moral because the people demand it, the lobbying efforts by fascists, communists and totalitarians will fail.

We have a big government. The government today is unquestionably a force for evil. The amount of good that the federal government does is nil. We must limit the government wherever possible. We need to stop feeding the beast. They don’t deserve a dime because the Leftists are the government and they will always exempt themselves and screw the people.

So, you want the Leftist billionaires to pay more in taxes. Great! Who is going to make them do it? The government? People in pitchforks? The GOP?

The answers are simple, but action is difficult. We need to operate at the state level via article 5. We need to band together as believers in Christ. We need to make everyday choices with our money and refuse to support corporations and individuals that promote government tyranny, and we need to exercise civil disobedience and withdrawal consent wherever it makes sense.

Very likely just taking a position of these people paying more taxes is enough to send ice water down he veins of GOPE elite. That alone should cause a change since that is the only thing they care about from our side. If what We think does not make any difference then why bother and participate here? I do like you ideas of not supporting corporations mainly the MSM, however, but it really is not enough.

that’s exactly what their doing,

on another thread awhile back, some less than astute person was telling me that ‘we the voters choose our candidates’ as if these machinations have no influence,

The vast majority of Americans are manipulated by the news media/talking heads and dumbed down, the bush family is close friends to the clintons,

They plan to offer up jeb as some proper republican opposition candidate to “challenge” the machine that will elect hillary knowing that gentleman jeb is young enough to take his turn after her.

“So the amenable token conservative at NYT has spoken....we shall nominate Jeb.....”

There are no “token conservatives” at the NYT, there are a lot of people at the NYT working very hard to bring you the latest in PRAVDA dis-information.

In the case of Jeb - the meme being pushed - Who does not love a Big G’ment RINO

Jeb will get crushed like a bug. Which is why Democrats love him, just like they loved Romney.
