I earned 2 Master’s degrees because I did not want to be known as Dr. Seems silly but that’s what happens when one is defined by one’s degree.

Then why call in the Natiinal Guard now? They could be there til January now?

Probably to get the locals used to their presence and to allow them time to work with local authorities and get prepared. Waiting for the GJ decision and calling them in then would be too late and probably make things worse.

Gov. Nixon wrote the Executive order activating the MO NG on 17 Nov. It expires in 30 days. Unless renewed by him. The NG is to have more of a supporting role. Secure command posts, fire stations, etc. Thus freeing up more police for crowd control, possible looting/rioting and of course, routine police calls/duties.

BG Mason is in command on the MO NG. He is a retired MO State Trooper. Thus there is considerable coordination between the two units, as well as all other PDs.

No idea when Grand Jury will announce decision. But I suspect long before Jan. 7 deadline...

I got a “Head’s up” from a friend of mine in St. Louis who said he has it on good authority that the GJ will announce its decision in the Spring of 2018.

Can a DA file charges w/o an indictment? I thought our constitution prevented a person from being held for a crime w/o a presentment or indictment?

Just another reason Holder will indict Wilson for Civil Rights violation.

"Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law, 18 U.S.C. § 242. This provision makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.

For the purpose of Section 242, acts under "color of law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official's lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.

The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any."

Might have dodged a riot for now

Even unemployed activists can't hang on forever. My guess is they'll change the rules, find a reason to riot without a verdict. These are professional lynch mobs.

Or, as a friend of mins correctly said, they're not leaving without their free tv.

Didn't the prosecutor who was after Tom Delay just keep empaneling grand juries until he got one which would indict Delay?

Maybe they will form a new grand jury, and make sure this time that at least 9 of the members are black.

It's like having the championship game end in a tie.

The headline is misleading, as many TPNN articles are.
The GJ will meet again on Monday. The only news is that they failed to have a decision by this weekend, as some news sources suggested.

There can never be a fail. By MO law, there are 12 members on a GJ. They vote. It takes 9 to proceed with charges, otherwise it is a No Bill. IOW, this whole article is a sham and nothing but more stupid reporter tricks.

I thought a GJ either indicted or not, yes or no.

It makes no sense otherwise. The GJ isn't deciding if the guy is guilty or not. It's whether there's enough evidence to make a credible case. I sat on a grand jury: The rules are that if there aren't enough votes for a bill, it's "no bill." Get it? Kind of simple, really. There's no requirement that a majority vote against a bill—the onus is on the DA to convince a majority that he has a ham sandwich.

So what did the jury do—not vote? If I were his lawyer, I'd argue right now that that's "no bill." They wouldn't vote for it, so it got zero votes and lost.

Well, I did hear they plan to reconvene on Monday, it’s a delay to help stop the violence, and let the police deal with protesters. Possibly 8 on board but can’t get the last one, I’ve seen that in lots of trials... Monday maybe, or after Thanksgiving. Black Friday would be a good day to announce...don’t you think?

The investigation into those in the crowds has revealed two men looking for bomb materials...they have been arrested.

Even if not true the is probably going to be some goings on this weekeand
anyway. It’s a feeling I got.
Arresting agitators would make a certain amount of sense.
