you are correct!
The laws are neither enforced by officials or obeyed by anyone. Do you really think that just by making up new laws THEY will be observed by anyone? Those that don’t like the new laws will take us right back to where we started.
They really DO think we’re stupid!

The Immigration laws are not broken, it is the enforcement that is broken.

Enforce the requirement of employers to use eVerify for all employees, and illegals will no longer be able to work and will self-deport.

I said the same thing, last night, when Lyin’ King made that statement. John Boehner used the exact same term in his BS statement he released, just before 0bola went on the air.

Our immigration system IS NOT BROKEN!!! Our ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!

It’s all political theatre...the politicians use the words *comprehensive* and *reform* when they want to create yet another HUGE government program to take more TAXES, from hard-working Americans.

1. We already have immigration laws. Why does not the president enforce them? Why doesn’t he fulfill his oath of office? Oh, that’s right - making up laws gets him votes. Party before county…

2. Just a few years ago, democrats had a super majority in the house, a filibuster proof senate and obama in the white house. Why didn’t we get comprehensive immigration reform then? We got obamacare on Christmas eve. Why not immigration reform on New Year’s Day? Now it the highest priority for obama once republican have taken over the house and senate…hmmmm

Illegal immigants are FOREIGNERS. They do not belong here.
However the Immigration laws of Mexico are broken because the Mexican Constitution requires all people wishing to emigrate to another country to obtain PERMISSION from the Mexcican Consularies offices there. The illegals are thus BREAKING THE LAWS OF 2 COUNTRIES, ie., neither country govt. is enforcing its immigration laws.

The Federal Government wouldn’t enforce border security, so the state of Arizona said fine, and stepped up to enforce the law. After all, they were bearing the brunt of the costs of a porous border. The Federal government then proceeded to sue the State of Arizona to stop enforcing the laws that the Federal government stopped enforcing. So, now, tell me, what exactly is out of place in this scenario?

“Comprehensive reform” - Rarely effective, usually meant to hide intent, fraud and wasteful spending.

Laws should be very brief, a few pages long and very focused on a given issue so every person can read and understand it.

It’s been broken for years, by Mexicans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans, Russians, Irish, Canadians, Iranians, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Build the WALL, NOW!

The law is broken only by those who break it, whether by illegal entry, or by having the authority to enforce it and failing to do so through negligence or design.

You are getting to the crux of the matter. The left and right can’t solve the problem because the Democrats and the Republicans have jointly fostered the failure to enforce the laws and regulations as were in place during 20 years for both parties holding power. They have done so for party power.

Now the progressive and conservative bases want correction and no reform is possible without lawlessness.

When a country corrupts its practices the country suffers and we are suffering worse than the immigrants that have entered the country illegally.

Solutions must have legitimacy. That is granted when it goes through the proper process. Supreme Courts don’t give it. Executive action fiats don’t give it. Legislative hi-jinxs doesn’t yield it. Only in going through citizen input, legislative action and studied bargaining and then being signed into law do we get fair closure to legitimacy. A good example is the 10 year process for the Civil Rights law changes in the 60s. After a few years there was a new settled ground on the whole issue, it was behind us.

Dred Scott, Abortion, the ACA, the ACA appeals, the EPA administrative Tyranny have all been fought because they did not go through the proper process to get the citizenry to acknowledge legitimacy.

The immigration system is broken just like health care is broken, and foreign policy, and civil rights, and environmental policy, and tax laws, and the highways and bridges, and the space program, and gay rights, and women's rights, and minority rights, and the national debt, and the economy, and the CIA, NSA, FBI, Homeland Security, and Secret Service are messed up, and the military is in chaos, and a hundred other departments and functions are in shambles.

If you look at the big picture, the government is what is broken.

We have a lawless Federal government insofar as they are beholden to the law. That is it in a nutshell, and requires very little analysis.

The Constitution is broken. What the idiot did last night (and today) has more to do with the PRESIDENT breaking the law than with the immigrant.

IMHO, the discussion should not be on immigration, but on a blatant unconstitutional power grab by the president.

The immigration laws are a something like alcoholic beverages.
Alcohol itself is a very good thing, as teetotaler & former bartender A. Lincoln put it. It is the abuse of alcohol that is a bad thing.
Our immigration laws are fine. The failure to enforce our immigration and naturalization laws is the problem.
It is the executive branch which is charged by the Constitution with enforcing federal laws and with protecting the several states from invasion.
Obama is NOT empowered with creating new laws that suit him. That is what is “broken” here.
(This is 9th grade `Civics’ by the way.)
Any Congress critter with a smidgen of self-respect, or respect for the rule of law and our form of government, should be ready to fight over this bare theft, this usurpation by a coequal branch of government.

What is broken is the enforcement of immigration laws. For about 25 years every president since then has done next to nothing to stop illegal aliens at the border and to deport them when they are caught.

The president also takes an oath to faithfully execute the duties of his office and the main duty is to enforce the damned laws.

The immigration law is not broken, it is not being enforced. What is broken is the one who took an oath of office swearing to uphold the laws of the land, and refuses to do so..
