I agree with you on both counts.

People who express that mindset lead me to believe they came out of some camp that wasn’t the foundation of Conservatism. They just don’t quite grasp that we’re a law and order nation. For that you need police officers.

I have had conversations with people who thought we could do without the police. They want very few laws, and any law enforcement to be conducted by the public.

Good grief the trouble that would lead to.

It is probably best to decline to debate.

Tell them to read the history of Southwest Missouri after the civil war. Vigilante groups were formed, because there was no law to stop the roaming gangs of robbers and murderers.

The Baldnobers of Christian County started with good intentions and ended with a Ruby Ridge type of situation just as they were disbanding since the law had returned. A few vigilantes were hanged, but most escaped and went on the lam.
