Thank you for referencing that article raptor22. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

The Constitution was “derailed” by misguided citizens so long ago, the ratificatons of the 16th and 17th Amendments an excellent example, that the title of this thread is basically meaningless imo.

At least they still believed in Amendments in 1913.

Today, judges just write new Amendments from the bench.

I agree, in fact I think MOST of the amendments from eleven on have been mistakes. A case could even be made that the bill of rights was a mistake. Some of the founders were convinced that the addition just created an opportunity for people to find loopholes. They may have been right.
