Israeli Jews took the streets on Thursday in support of Ashkelon Mayor Itamar Shimoni's decision to temporarily stop the employment of Arab construction workers on sites near schools citing security concerns, even as a debate raged as to the legality of the move.
In Jerusalem, right-wing activists protested in front of the Rami Levy supermarket in the Givat Shaul neighborhood against the employment of Arab workers at the store.
Givat Shaul is located adjacent to the Har Nof neighborhood where two Arab terrorists lethally attacked a synagogue on Tuesday with hatchets and guns, killing four Jews and a Druze police officer - one of the terrorists was employed at a nearby grocery store.

You mean, this allegedly works? It’s been tried for all of two days, and is based on false information. As for anything else, yes. I know of other things that can and do work. Jews must carry guns, knives, other weapons, keep their eyes open, and show absolutely no mercy to the perps. That works. A swift, simple death penalty, and wrapping the corpse up in pig skin would work, too. Taking the leaders of Hamas and Fatah and running them out of town on rail would work, too, especially if they are suddenly relocated to Antarctica.
Above all else, though, messing with their minds would work. for example, IDF snipers on a ridge overlooking a road in and out of a big Arab settlement would work. A pre-recorded message from behind rocks along the side of the road could say in Arabic, “A Jooo! is hiding behind me, noble Muslim. Come and kill him.” Those Arabs that take the bate and draw knives to kill the Jooo! get their gray matter ventilated all over their friends, who then run back home to tell everyone that Mad Mo’s profit-see was all a diabolical Jooo! trick, and blaming the Hadith on a Jooo! conspiracy. They would go apeshit all over each other, while we munch popcorn.
What this is, however, is half-baked, emotionalistic crap. Arabs don’t need to work for you to shoot you. Arabs in daily contact with Jews at least have some chance of seeing Jooos! as human beings, contrary to their Imam’s irrational rants. That’s why the “settlement enterprise” must be expanded and made permanent, for the sake of true peace, in case there ever is a real chance for it.

He’s got a Jewish fish cutter, but he works too slow, and doesn’t do half the job of the Arab. For whatever reason, Arabs are real good fish cutters. Jews, not so. Same with construction. Arabs dominate the construction industry. Every time a new building tender is announced, Obama gets apoplexy but several Arabs get a job. The reverse applies for jobs that Jews are good at, but Arabs suck at, such as lawyers, economists, accountants, doctors, etc. Germans make great lens grinders, better than anyone else. It’s not racism, it’s reality.
Jews, however, are not going to be into collective punishment. We’ve been on the receiving end too often in the past three-and-a-half millennia.
True, an Arab might pick up a meat cleaver. Then again, Americans tend to go postal more often and more horrifically than the Arabs. The important difference is that the shooters on American campuses and shopping malls don’t get praised by their entire community and mosque for their heinous acts. To counteract that, you have to at least have something to offer to put into the balance. We have jobs to offer. OK. It might keep them away from the meat cleaver, but even so you have to watch your back.

Except it’s not punishment. It’s self defense akin to dealing with a large pack of rabid dogs in the town square. Removing a nest of hornets from the eaves in your home or a den of vipers in your backyard isn’t punishment. It’s simple common sense.

I suppose...that Jews in Israel have more firsthand knowledge of the Arabs in their midst than we do from clear across the pond. They can decide what’s best; I for one am convinced that Israeli Jews can smell a terrorist; when was the last time an El Al airliner was hijacked (1968, IIRC)?
Not all Jews feel that Arabs do the jobs that Jews will not do. I always believed that one of the foundation blocks of the State of Israel was full Jewish employment in all walks of life; Histradut was established for that purpose. Should Arabs be employed while there is unemployment among Jews?
Are there no Jewish fishmongers with the skills of that trade?
I imagine it works like it does here. Some sectors are fully employed and others not so much. Arabs may hold some decent jobs that hold up, and vise versa.
Some people are always speaking out about something. That doesn’t mean they share the majority opinion. I’m not convinced this guy does. He may.
The Arab contingent in Israel works right along side the Israelis. They are decent enough citizens as I understand it. I am a very strong supporter of Israel. I believe Israel is stronger when it’s Arab populace feels ownership in Israel’s day to day.
As long as they are peaceful and contributors, I wouldn’t let Arabs go to fully employ the Jewish populace.
I wouldn’t replace the Jewish workers either.
Never knew they did such work. I know that there are Arabs who do olive wood religious art to sell to tourists who come to Israel and those who want a little bit of Israel in their homes.

It has happened for brief periods. When they get excited, however, they forget it. In the interim, if they have usable skills, why not use them?
