The other issue is many employers want ILLEGAL workers. They want to pay people lower wages, dodge payroll taxes, benefits, have unsafe or otherwise shady work place or working conditions. When illegals become legal they nearly always get other jobs. Employers that still want illegal workers will cause more illegals to pour in. Rinse and repeat and that is why NOTHING will work unless we secure the border and enforce all current immigration law.

True. The 1986 amnesty was supposed to be a one-time event that would solve the problem. The government estimated 1 million would apply, but the real number turned out to be 2.7 million. You had to be in the country 5 years to apply.
