“If the Supremes rule that he has acted unconstitutionally...”

They don’t have to ‘rule’.

They just have to issue an injunction while the case is heard. That stops him. Before the case can ever be decided the GOPe will pass something very, very slightly better than the present Senate bill- making the case moot.

..."a lot of Republicans think the 2013 shutdown seriously hurt the long-term interests of the party."

Yep. Sure did. That's why they "hurt" themselves into a majority in both houses of Congress this November.

The issue is not that they can’t use the power of the purse to block Obama’s lawless power grab. The issue is that they don’t want to. The real shame is that they can’t even be honest about that.

A shame, but not a surprise. Except perhaps to the frenzied screamers who kept insisting that the GOP would save us all, if only they took the Senate. rofl

The ID cards are the lynchpin in the whole process. Without the cards, Obama’s plan goes nowhere.

But card manufacturing for tens of millions of cards requires solicitation (which already exists) and money spent on solicitation is not funded by fees. Therefore, the Appropriations Committee can defund the solicitation of cards and without solicitation of cards there can be no cards, hence no amnesty.

Further, whether cards are funded by fees or appropriations, there is no law authorizing solicitation of manufacture or issuance of these cards. Therefore, a mere resolution by the House will stop the cards cold else federal employees and contractors can be subject to court action.

Some of us remember when Michele Bachman wanted to defund ObamaCare after they captured the House. Boehner shut her down, probably led to her decision not to run again this year.

I have been shouting for years that the GOPe is not stupid, they are complicit, maybe some will start believing after this amnesty fiasco is revealed.

Governors could man up and stop this, but strangely they, for the most part are silent.

Republicans can’t do anything until January next year.

They could shut up with the We Can't drama.

Take Obola to the Supreme Court!

They don't have standing to take him to the Supreme Court.

With Politicians its always good policy to pay attention to what they do, not what they say?

FWIW , I think Speaker John Bohner is a poor leader and the wrong guy to lead the opposition at this time.

He should have opposed Obama more forcefully, but just how has Obama rolled the guy?

Bohner, for all criticism heaped upon him, has, to his credit, pretty much shut Obama down for the last 4 years which is saying a lot given that Obama has held pretty much all the cards and Harry Reid has broken every rule of Congress to cover for Obama

Good point.

Ironically, Obama’s main justification for this is that the Department doesn’t have enough money appropriated to remove everyone so it can prioritize.

So appropriators can block this by just giving them enough money!
A good use of our money for a change.
