WASHINGTON Republicans on Thursday vowed a swift and forceful response to the executive action on immigration that President Obama is to announce in a prime-time address, accusing the president of exceeding the power of his office and promising a legislative fight when they take full control of Congress next year.
Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who will become majority leader in January, said in a speech on the Senate floor Thursday morning that Mr. Obama would regret choosing to ignore the wishes of the American people.
If President Obama acts in defiance of the people and imposes his will on the country, Congress will act, Mr. McConnell said just hours before the president was scheduled to speak to the nation on television. Were considering a variety of options. But make no mistake. Make no mistake. When the newly elected representatives of the people take their seats, they will act.

Lots of quotes from Mitch on the radio this morning, lots of criticism of Obama's planned actions, but not a word on specifically what he and the Republican Senate plan to do.
The actions they can take are only a few, so he should already have a strategy formed. He's got to back of his supid "no government shutdown" nonsense if he plans any action at all.
Hey, Mitch, if Congress passes a budget or budget CR and Obama doesn't get exactly what he wants, that's not a shutdown, just a disagreement. Have some backbone and stand up and explain to the American people what is being done and why. Most will agree with you.
I couldn’t read it all......his ‘ I really like the guy....Michelle too ‘ .....stuck in my craw, and I want to throw up!
Would he have liked Hitler too?....Stalin!.....
Are the Republicans giving a reponse after the royal decree?
Ya talk the talk. Do you walk the walk?
Well Mitch?
This McConnell is too cute for words. Action this day.
By the time the "Republicans" (whatever TF that is nowadays) take their seats, Obama will have been King for 60 days. It will be too late. He will be billed as the equal to Lincoln, The Great Emancipator in the African-American Community. He will have been billed as el Gran Libertador, the equal to Bolívar in the "Hispanic" community. He will be the recipient of an already rolling MSM wave of adulation heretofore unseen.
There is no McConnell/Boehner Plan, there is no "Republican" program, there is no leader in Congress. If McConnell truly feels there is nothing he or Boehner can do until the new men reach DC, maybe the geriatric SOB ought to go home. If Cruz needs him, he can phone it in.
Both of those bad jokes are talking a lot and saying nothing. It seems to be their 'leadership' style. Nothing will happen to oppose Obama unless the Republicans in the House and Senate force those two to stop mealy mouthing and take some concrete action.
“But remember, Impeachment is off the table and there is no way we will shut the government down or defund stuff!” - Mitch McConnel
“Mitch, why should we believe you now?
You sucked as a Majority leader then,
Why will this time be any different?”
Except McConnell has never been Majority Leader.
I’ll bet they have their sternly worded letter all ready to be sent.
What was he in 2005? Senate Mugwump?
Yep....
“What was he in 2005? Senate Mugwump?”
He was Senate Majority Whip, NOT Majority Leader.
He couldn’t whupp a Tennessee mule.
Mitch, John, you need to yell this: ‘No F’ING WAY!! You aren’t a king and we will not accept this.’
They must have got a deal on buying white flags in bulk.
