Serving as the Ranking minority member on the Budget Committee over the past few years, Sessions has effectively used budget point of orders to tactically block big spending bills and has fought terrible budget deals proposed by both Republicans and Democrats. He has served as a one-man think tank and stalwart against amnesty and in defense of our nations borders, sovereignty, workers, and taxpayers. Indeed, in an era when the budget process will be the last recourse against Obamas lawlessness, there is nobody more qualified to serve as Budget chair than Sessions.
But this thought process all assumes that other Republicans value the leadership qualities Sessions has exhibited on these critical budgetary issues. According to Congressional Quarterly, Mike Enzi, the senior senator from Wyoming, is planning to challenge Sessions for the chairmanship. And even though Enzi has not served as ranking minority member on the Budget committee or led publicly on budgetary issues, his seniority would bump Sessions from the position. This is yet another example of why the seniority system is a poor method for determining leaders. All one has to do is look at the Senate Republican conference to to quickly ascertain that conservatives are not only providing the leadership to fight against Obama, but also putting forth the conservative ideas needed to move forward. See Mike Lee and the large policy portfolio of solutions he has developed.
While Enzi is far from a liberal, he does not measure up to Sessions in terms of serving as a leader and a voice on critical issues.

You got that right .. I guess McConnell got to Boehner and now we see Enzi will take over for Sessions.
THIS IS A VERY BAD DEAL FOR REPUBLICANS.
THIS IS WHY WE NEED TO STOP THE “HIGHSCHOOL” PLANS - the guy with the most seniority takes the chairmanship. But, this allows all the non-leadership people to have positions they do not know how to run.
Believe me .. I’m making a lot of calls next week regarding this issue.
Because if we don’t support “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” in 2016, why....you just want the Rat to win! Don’t you know it’ll be much worse under the Democrat?
The same old same old. Rush says Enzi is not a fighter. Ditch the Republicans if Sessions is out.
If McConnell is pulling these strings it’s gonna backfire in his face.
He would be pissing off Cruz, Lee. Sessions and at least one other Conservative in the Senate.
Without THIER support he doesn’t have a majority to pass legislation. They will be in a position of power to get what they want. They will not be quiet about it either!
So go ahead Bitchy, pull your strings.
I could understand this, Sessions is so unpopular he almost lost his latest election”............ Sarcasm
According to Heritage Action Scorecard Enzi is better than Toomey but more lib than Cornyn.
Sessions is more conservative than all of them.
These people are getting on my last nerve. I think I am going to start blowing a loud whistle into the phone the next time the RNC calls.
If they screw with Sessions it’s over as far as I’m concerned. He stands for the people and always has.

If I am reading this correctly and the information is correct, Jeff Sessions has seniority over Enzi. The states’ population is the tie breaker in this case. :)
I don't think Cheney would behave as badly as Enzi is now.
This is what comes of mindlessly supporting a Rino in one of the deepest conservative states in the union. We did worse than waste a conservative seat, we stood by and left it to a Rino.
I don’t have better breeding so I will say this. Even though I did not know enough about Wyoming politics or Enzi to have an informed opinion, my first thought when hearing this was “Wasn’t this the seat Cheney was going to run for? Damn.”
Cheney Jr. was unquestionably to the left of Enzi and the people of Wyoming laughed her out the race.
No, they don’t. Enzi is a good Senator, Sessions is a better one but Enzi is not a RINO.
And no matter how hard you trash him the fact remains that Cheney Jr. is to his left, next time find someone to his right who actually lives in Wyoming.
I look forward to serving crow to Milton Wolf cheerleaders too, who will also never admit they were wrong when they smeared Roberts as a liberal who "loves to be bipartisan" . Here's what "RINO" Pat Roberts is up to this week:
It should be noted, of course, that Princess Liz the "fighter" NEVER lifted a finger or said a single word against it when she was PART of the Bush adminstration and her dear ol' daddy and GWB were pushing a "path to citizenship" for illegals...
Yeah, such a "weak" response that shows he's "not a fighter" and "loves to reach across the aisle", right Enzi haters?
Bush's gal Liz would have been soooo much better. Remind me again, who was it that tried to shove amnesty down our throats 8 years ago?
Billy boy, you neglected to quote that portion of Senator Enzi's press release in which he states what he is going to do about Obama's tyrannical usurpation of power while he is not "sitting idly by."
Well, of course, there is no such portion because Enzi will do nothing. Perhaps because he has been too busy since the election not sitting idly by but trying to strip Senator Jeff Sessions, a man who has been actually doing something, of his powers and trying to force everyone in the country to pay an Internet tax. Here we have a internal traitor who is also trying to increase our taxes.
Busy man your Senator Enzi but I am afraid since election his rating has fallen from from C to F and should really go into the minus column as he moves from 0 for 2 to 3, 4
Not incidentally, rather than actually quote someone and identify the individual you quote, you slap quotation marks around statements as though they were attributed to me which is very misleading.
Until you get it, until you begin to understand that it is the Senator Enzis within our own party who, because of their deviousness and hypocrisy are as much of a problem as any New York senator like Charles Schumer, you will never permit conservatism to perform its role in these parlous times for the Republic. Every day Enzi is in Washington he is selling us out and you are covering for him.
What needs to be developed may also have some flesh to it.
Funny, I must have missed where the Republicans controlled the Senate in the last session, which would enable one Republican to "strip" another Republican of a committee chairmanship. Here in the real world, the Democrats have been controlled the Senate since 2007, which means there that Harry Reid has been able to block everything Mike Enzi has wanted to do, and the outgoing Budget chairman is a Democrat. Since NEITHER Sessions nor Enzi holds the post of Budget Committeeman Chairman, and both have EQUAL seniority in the Senate, that makes it an open bid for the chairmanship -- not an effort to "strip" someone of a job they don't have.
Speaking of senority, given that Sessions has been in the Senate as long as Enzi (Jan. 1997), logic would suggest that if it was "time for Enzi to go" because "three terms is long enough for anyone" (I'm quoting your fellow Liz Cheney cheerleaders, I will be able to ping you to the original posts if you need proof), then the same rule should have applied to Sessions and you all should have been foaming at the mouth and demanded another Republican replace him in 2014. Of course you didn't, for the same reason the Liz Cheney cheerleaders were fine and dandy with her running for a different Senate seat when she lived primarily in Virginia, but screamed bloody hell when Pat Roberts did it.
Obama and his supporters live by the same principles. One set of rules for THEIR candidates, and a different set of rules for everyone else. It's horrible when George W. Bush goes on vacation, but fine and dandy when Obama does it. It's horrible when George W. Bush goes around Congress and issues executive orders, by fine and dandy when Obama does it. Most notably, Obama claimed to be vehemently against the idea when Alan Keyes suggested state government choose Senators instead of voters, but was fine with it when his own state did so and did not allow a special election to fill his Senate seat (and Obama would love if his fellow socialist Dems in state legislatures could have made all the Senate appointments).
Unfortunately for you, the American people don't like when either you, or the Democrats, play the "Do as I say, not as I do" game. And that is why Liz Cheney is not a Senator today, and Harry Reid will no longer be in charge in January.
