(CNSNews.com) - "Tonight the Senate has an important opportunity to send a bill to build the Keystone Pipeline to the president's desk," House Speaker John Boehner told a news conference on Tuesday.
"Now let's be clear about this. A Keystone Pipeline veto would send the signal that this president has no interest in listening to the American people. Vetoing an overwhelmingly popular bill would be a clear indication that he doesn't care about the American people's priorities."
"It would be the equivalent of calling the American people 'stupid,'" Boehner said.

Nice way of tying in the Gruber controversy, giving it legs and keeping it going.
Mockery is the best weapon against the narcissist.
I have a fear that making jokes and snide remarks about all of this very serious offense will somehow wind up being the only reaction to it from the Republicans. Sometimes when you respond too much with verbal outrage, and jokes, it takes the wind out of your sails to take real action.
I could be wrong, but this really isn’t a laughing matter, and even though it’s prime fodder for lots of great one-liners, I’d rather see something serious being done about it. I don’t know what, but I hope there’s a plan.
Boehner can talk tough when his corporate masters want something.
The left never loses an opportunity to poke fun at conservatives. Of course, they usually rely on their paid court jesters to do that on late night TV, so that their elected masters don’t have to.
Obama is not expected to compromise with not only House Republican but now with a rare bipartisan energy bill?
Who is the obstructionist now?
I strongly urge Maine voters to Call Sen. Angus Kings office in Augusta, (207) 622-8292 and Strongly urge the Sen. to fully support the Keystone bill. This is what the majority of America wants, as well as the majority of Mainers. Please call his office.
If I may, why should I support a legislative stunt designed to help re-elect Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu.
If she gets her 60th vote, the bill passes -- lends to her re-election effort -- and will then be vetoed by the President.
In other words, by calling Sen. King, I'm not helping the XL pipeline get built, I'm helping Sen. Landrieu get re-elected.
What say we wait until January...and let a republican Senate pass an XL bill?
There’s nothing that feels better than mocking a liberal - I have to say that I enjoy all of the attacks. I just fear that it will be the only reaction. I don’t want to see lots of poking and constant referrals to their treason and no actual consequences. I hope that talk doesn’t replace action, as it so often does.
Good one, Boner - now lead in the right direction or get lost.
Mr. Boehner, The Senate had and opportunity...HAD. Next time wait to see what happens in the Senate before you pretend to have a pair.
