When President Obama issues executive orders on immigration, House Republicans will be waiting with repercussions.
They're readying for a fight as Obama crafts administrative action that couldreportedly defer the deportationof as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants. This would likely count as the "big and bold" move Democrats are urging Obama to take, but many Republicans view this as an overreach of presidential power. It's an action that should have consequences, they say.
All options are on the table as House Republicans prepare to fight the president "tooth and nail," House Speaker John Boehner said in a press conference Thursday.
"Here's the time to get creative," Rep. Matt Salmon of Arizona said, "and I think that's what the speaker said when he said we're looking at all options right now."
But what exactly does "creative" meanand how far will it extend?
If Obama announces his executive order next Friday at noon, the House could stay in session for as long as needed rather than beginning the planned Thanksgiving recess. The chamber could pass a resolution rejecting the president's actions. Then House Republicans would focus on appropriations.
The current funding bill is set to sunset Dec. 11, and lawmakers are jockeying over passing another short-term continuing resolution or a longer-term package. The House could attach a rider prohibiting enforcement of Obama's order, or it could not provide money to departments that would respond to executive action.
This strategy aligns with a letter that Salmon, along with at least 62 cosigners, sent House Appropriations Chairman Harold Rogers and ranking member Nita Lowey. It urges them to insert language into any spending bill prohibiting the use of appropriated money for executive action that would create additional work permits or green cards. Essentially, Congress's power of the purse would be Obama's punishment.

Fat chance! Boehner is in charge.
Require the illegals to get taxpayer numbers assigned to them upon entry, force the employers to pay them on the books not under the table and a fair wage (not under market) and deduct their taxes from their checks automatically. offer rewards to whistleblowers who rat their employers out if they violate the law. No social welfare benefits if you are not a contributing taxpayer when you have been employed for xxx years. Kill the anchor baby clause.
It would kill many birds with one stone. It would take away the incentive to hire illegals, bring in more taxes while at the same time make thm NOT want to come to the U.S because it’s not the comfy deal it used to be.
Inform the nation that any illegal, invalid, fraudulent, bogus “green cards” or other documents issued by Obama’s illegal executive amnesty will be used to create immediate deportation lists when the GOP gets into power.
(The GOP will never actually state this, but it should be put out there.)
Nice list of what they could do.
Here’s a list of what Bonehead and McDorkell will do:
1. Nothing
"NOT ONE RED CENT, chicken$#!+ !!"
I think that it would serve as an excellent deterrent to any future usurper/dictators, so yes, it would be a memorable precedent.
AND NO PATHWAY, NOWAY, NOHOW TO VOTING PRIVILEGES SINCE THEY DISREGARDED THE LAW WITH CONTEMPT. Why should this special class of foreign criminals be permitted to help decide the new laws and leaders of the country. Take cuts ahead of others, pay this permanent price.
Have him arrested and charged with treason?
RE: Have him arrested and charged with treason?
HA HA HA, Eric Holder has been charged with contempt of Congress. What did it do to him?
Last I heard, he was making mischief in Ferguson Missouri.
Prosecute for ‘abuse of power’. The SEALs can pick him up.
Combine these 3 “propose” actions (power of the purse, potential litigation, & advice and consent), with a 4th: impeachment of Eric Holder, since he’s said he will stay in office until his successor has been approved. Since Obama thinks he has Congress over a barrel on the Attorney General replacement issue, this will take away his hole card.
Once this moron stops deportation; the border will be flooded with millions of illegals trying to get here before the door is shut.
The Republicans need to associate the resulting disaster with Democrats and their ideals. This is what happens when you elect Democrats.
No matter what actions are taken after the flood; it will take decades to repair the damage.
Sure, cut funding and use every tool in the box to stop it; but track the numbers of illegals crossing the border as a result of this “Unlawful” action.
RE: Prosecute for abuse of power.
And who’s going to do that? The Attorney General?
The leader of the house and senate should state on TV that these obama EOs on illegal criminals are just that - illegal. They have no force of law. They will not be funded. And anyone or any business who implements these EOs will be arrested, convicted and be put in jail the day obama leaves office. And they will face severe fines and bankruptcy.
Handcuff the usurper, lead him down the back stairs past the garbage bags, and plant his skinny backside in Lakin’s cell at Leavenworth.
RE: The Republicans need to associate the resulting disaster with Democrats and their ideals. This is what happens when you elect Democrats.
The above is simply another way of saying that Congress can’t stop it. All they can do is use this to their political advantage.

Yep. The council of Mice says: “Let’s Bell the Cat, then we’ll always know where he’s at.”
Question: WHO’s GOING TO DO IT?
