I managed Mitchell Hall at Lackland during the last part of 1974 and early 75. The sentry dog and guard dog training school was located at Lackland.

Every now and then a sentry dog and his handler would stop by and visit. The dogs were friendly. They would do tricks etc.

One of the handlers told me the sentry dogs were trained to be friendly with friends and deadly to enemies. The guard dogs were much more vicious and not allowed free reign.

Good evening, yarddog.....thanks for sharing your experiences.

Really interesting....I hadn’t thought of the difference between “sentry” and “guard” dogs.
