Environmentalists Ditch Their Patron Saint Because He Was An Old, Rich White Guy

Environmentalists say they’ve moved past their 19th century patron saint John Muir because he represents the monied, white privilege that continues to haunt the environmental movement to this day, the Los Angeles Times reports.

In an effort to connect more with Latinos and African Americans, some environmentalists are considering ditching Muir as their intellectual godfather. Environmentalists say that while they respect his ideas, they represent rich, Anglo-Saxon values that likely alienate minority communities.

“Muir’s legacy has to go,” Jon Christensen, a historian at the University of California in Los Angeles’s Institute of Environment and Sustainability, told the Times. “It’s just not useful anymore.”

“The conservation movement reflects the legacy of John Muir, and its influence on a certain demographic — older and white — and that’s a problem,” Christensen said.

Time for the Republicans to tie BO’s upcoming veto on the pipeline to democrats that care more about taking Tom Steyr’s money than about Americans having jobs. Hammer it in every single interview.

Whatta laff!

Talk about projection - rich Anglo Watermelons convinced that poverty stricken non-whites just want a new Prius and a gray water barrel!

Actually they only want one thing....where’s the cash, Gringo?

All the aging hippies in the Earth Justice! movement are about to find out what the word “shakedown” means...

Get rid of the white people in the environmental movement and there is no environmental movement. This is the playground of the lily whites, and they are not going to give it up either.

Of course it isn't useful anymore. He wasn't watermellony enough. That is, green on the outside and red on the inside.

Sounds a bit RACIST to me!

Could you just imagine the uproar if ‘Black’ were used in that statement, rather than “White”?

Yes, this is one of the wedge points in the democrat party that can be used to split off voters. Ethnic minorities don't care about this stuff. They want jobs.

I spent years dealing with the worst of this scum. Trust me. Don’t ever try attributing logical thoughts or reason to their decisions. They act and wholly function on the emotion of the moment.

You know how one of the first thoughts that comes to mind is ‘clueless hippie’ when thinking of Greenies? There’s a reason for that. And the ones that sit in the Sierra boardrooms/Greenpeace are ‘those guys’ shaved and washed in a business suit that were placed there specifically because communists manipulate them so readily.

Along with illegal immigration, yes. But the real culprit, imo, are the white (both male and female) elitist rulers of our major media outlets and institutions of higher learning - also known as our colleges and universities.

They are bent on eliminating any evidence of American history whatsoever, for some reason.

It is true. So often, only whites are really i terested in any given endeavor. Which in some ways is wonderful, other ways pathetic.

I watched some TV where the discussion was curiosity about wildlife.

Story of a white person wanting to explore African wildlife with a black local guide. Black guide suddenly hangs back. White guy just has to go experience the animals - no more white guy.

Moral - when the black guy stands still, stand with him!

Great that whites want to explore everything, but often leads to foolishness.

I still think Vlad Lenin, Joe Stalin, Idi Amin, Osama bin Laden or even Nikita Khrushchev would make a better “patron saint” for the commie enviroloonies.
