If they hurry
There is no hurry.
The only reason for the Democrat controlled Senate to pass it this time is to try and help Mary Landrieu in the Louisiana Senate runoff. The best thing that could happen would be for it to pass now and Obama to veto it, with not enough Democrats voting for it to override the veto.
In January, when the Republicans control the Senate, they can pass it again and have a much better chance of over-riding Obama’s veto.
He’ll have Landrieu’s vote; before the runoff, that is.
