We need to bring jobs back to America.

The way to increase the supply of labor and to maintain full employment is (1) to create and maintain a free market in labor and (2) to stimulate the demand for labor by increasing saving and productive expenditure. This is accomplished by eliminating confiscatory taxes, reducing regulations, reducing government spending and deficits which require government borrowing, and stop the assault on the institutions of capitalism such as profits, inequality, and competition. And (3) a 100% reserve gold standard which will reduce the need for a financial contraction and new recession and new mass unemployment in the future.

What is interesting is that preschool enrollment hasn’t gone down as female employment has.
Too many women who used federal childcare subsidies or Head Start or “free Pre-K at public school” continue to use them, though they aren’t working anymore.

You are correct, but why work for $12.00 an hour or less when you can make the equivalent or more plus subsidies by being on the dole? The old rational economic man theory. Maximize your gain while minimizing your effort. Work is for the huddled masses of Asia and Latin America. For you and me, the 1950's have passed. Ozzie and Harriet are dead. (Did Ozzie ever work?). America has been transformed! s/

I worked for a farmer about 30 years ago — Great job loved every sweaty, stinky, hard minute of it, didn’t get rich, but I learned a lot about life.

Anyway, that first spring that I worked for him we were having trouble with one of the horses — It wouldn’t work and it didn’t want to leave the barn after the long hard cold winter.

The farmer said he was “barn sour.”

I asked, “what is barn sour.”

He replied: Barn sour is laziness; the horse has learned that they’re expected to work when they’re away from the barn. Barn sour usually means refusing to leave the barn, refusing to move forward, bucking or jigging, violently backing up or wheeling around suddenly, rearing, moving awkwardly and/or racing towards home. The horse has become accustomed to getting its stall cleaned twice a day, fresh hay and fresh water twice a day and not having to anything for it.

He went on to say that there is one cure for a barn sour horse and it is rewarding desirable behaviors and associating positive experiences away from the barn.

Apparently “barn sour” can and does apply to people too.

The other side of the problem is that the US Government and the states give a living wage to these people without their doing anything.

I see job wanted ads all over the place, just not up to their comfortable standards for free.

I have to wonder how many people believe the official jobs report. According to Shadowstats, which simply adds back the discouraged workers (which were part of the number prior to 1994), we have NOT seen a decline of unemployment since the high.

At what point I still wonder does the public finally completely doubt the numbers? For instance, the moment they realize inflation is more like 6% than 2%, will it be too late and we will be well into a inflationary spiral?

We all know people like that. I have an aunt who my grandfather made give up her baby for adoption, when she was 16. So out of spite and despair she turned to drugs and stealing for drugs, ect... She is now in her late 50s, and still lives off welfare and hand outs from her family. And her attitude is that she DESERVES it for the misery her life became. Have another aunt on long term disability who went straight to a disability pension - her disability is that she cannot work with others.

And unfortunately, big brother is more than happy to loot from those of us working to keep these folks from getting what they deserve.

I have really no qualms if a large extended family lives together with one main breadwinner...

often we older people are in jobs that we have seniority, and are at the top wage level....maybe it makes sense for grandpa to keep working...

but everyone must contribute something....do odd jobs for cash...not spend...cook at home..etc...

I don’t know but I can see the reverse as well. You work and Uncle Sam takes 30% of your check for taxes and SS. Then they take another 30% by forcing you to get health insurance that is beyond your means. You can barely feed your family and you see an immigrant in front of you at the store buying steaks with food stamps and driving off in an Escalade. After a while you would feel like a sucker...
