What exactly are "people of color"? Every human being on the planet, except for albinos, is a person "of color," because his or her skin contains melanin to some degree or another. So it's apparent that from the purely scientific viewpoint, Caucasians are "people of color" just as much as those other groups usually denoted as such.
It's bad enough that some idiots on the left made up that asinine phrase a few years ago. It's even worse that some so-called "conservatives," as in this article, are using it as well.
Words and phrases do have consequences; use of "people of color" merely enhances bigotry and divisiveness. It used to be that the Census Bureau and other government agencies used the term "non-whites," which still seems preferable and more accurate.

It’s actually a very old term. I’ve seen it in novels from the early 1900’s. Been around forever.
